The hotel offered a discount because we were with DFEST music festival so although it wasn't a competitive price compared with hotels a little farther from downtown, we were pleased with it. It was about a twenty minute walking distance from the Blue Dome district (which is where we wanted to be). They have Starbucks in the lobby. They serve you cookies as you check-in. They have a very nice pool which was not cold at all. They had a whirlpool as well. Their gym was also nice, and nobody was in it despite the hotel being very full that weekend (there was a wedding going on near the area, DFEST music festival, and the American Idol tour). The man that checked us in was very nice and helpful. You also receive a tray of Neutrogena samples that should last you the entire weekend. It has shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and SPF 45 moisturizer. This really came in handy.
You can only get wireless in the lobby. If you don't look at their website carefully, it sounds like you get wireless in your room, but that's incorrect. You pay $10 a day for 24 hours of internet.
You don't get continental breakfast.
Parking is $7 a day - although this probably shouldn't be on the cons list as most hotels around the area are the same way.
They don't clean the hotel room until 4 pm.
The shower vent is very dirty. Lots of dust bunnies. The comforter was stained with yellow near the top. Strange in a "remodeled hotel".
Their check-in staff is not very use to handling a lot of people. We waited thirty minutes average to check in from 3-4 o'clock. After that, the line was very small.
The main reason why I wouldn't recommend this hotel was because the hotel staff. Overall, not very accommodating. We had ordered and received confirmation that we were getting a king room, but they put us into a room with two tiny beds instead. We had to wait another 30 minutes to change the room - which we were okay with because this happens. But the lady said "sorry, there is no extra room. Please wait in the other line." We waited, and spoke to the manager. She was curt and said "There is no king size room available." She expected us to just leave after that but we said "we reserved a king, what do we do?" and she said "No, you didn't. It's king if available." I ended up having to show her the email confirmation and she finally gave us a room with a bed we could share.
What I thought was different was that, we were very apologetic for causing an inconvenience. We knew it wasn't her fault that the online reservation stated king bed confirmed. But her attitude on the other end was just "What do you want me to do about it? I have other things to do right now." When the nice man that checked us in originally saw us in line, he asked, "Did I do something wrong? What's wrong?" and we both immediately said, "No, you didn't at all! We were just hoping for one bed" and she cut us off and said, "No, you didn't do anything wrong. THEY just are asking for things." in a very displeased manner.
I won't be returning here again. Their competition, a much nicer hotel and located on 2nd street (where everything is), was so much nicer and even gave us a list of where to go, etc. last year. I would recommend paying the extra twenty bucks a day and going there, because after paying for internet and breakfast, the money is about even with each hotel. And treatment at the other one is so much more accommodating.
