“Nice in T town!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

My son and I stayed here last month for a trip to the University. We usually stay at other places. I was truly impressed overall with the room and the staff. What a pleasant surprise as I am really picky and travel a lot. I did not get a chance to eat there, but did have drinks in the bar. The hotel is very aesthetically pleasing, and I will definitely return there in the future. A gem in the heart of Tulsa.

We are so happy that you and your son enjoyed your stay at the hotel. It is always great to get positive feedback especially from a traveler who admits to being a little picky. Downtown Tulsa is growing everyday and I am confident that future travelers will be pleasantly surprised in what they find Downtown and here at The Mayo Hotel.

We would be more than happy to set-up a dinner reservation at our restaurant, Trula, so that you can experience the hotel in its entirety during your next visit. We look forward to having you and your family back soon!

If you are looking for a beautiful, all inclusive venue to hold and event, the Mayo is the place to book! The setting is absolutely unmatched and the staff polite, attentive, and professional. The wedding planner, banquet director, front desk, reservation specialist, valets, all made our event the most stressless ever planned. Everything went smoothly without a hitch and I credit the wonderful staff for that. They were all accommodating for every wish I had. All our guests commented on the food as the best ever of any wedding they have attended, and it was!! The rooms and suites were spacious, but lightly stocked, however the staff was always prompt in bringing us whatever we needed. There is a trolley that stops at the corner and takes you to all the historic districts of downtown Tulsa. It comes by about every 20 minutes. You can hop off and on as many times as you want along the route, for free, and brings you safely back to the hotel after a night of reveling. We will definitely come back--many times!

Thank you very much for choosing to hold your special event with us here at The Mayo Hotel. Our sales team is one of the best in the industry. They are ready and willing to work with clients to create the perfect setting for any event no matter the occasion. Our banquet manager has been in the business for over 20 years and is a professional in every sense of the word. Executive Head Chef Jeff Meldrum has put together one of the best culinary teams in the state and we take a great amount of pride in the food we serve. I am happy to know that we took the weight off of your shoulders so that you could sit back and enjoy the event and the memories it created.

The trolley has been a great addition to Downtown Tulsa. It runs every Friday and Saturday from 5 pm until 2 am and does indeed stop in front of the hotel at the corner of 5th and Cheyenne. The trolley can take you to both the Blue Dome District and the Brady District, two of Downtown Tulsa’s hotspots for entertainment.

Thank you again for choosing The Mayo to host your event. We would love to have you back as often as possible. You will always be welcome here at The Mayo!

The Mayo has fast become one of my favorite places to stay when I come to Tulsa. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel it's all about you. The rooms are amazing, very spacious and very beautifully decorated. You certainly don't feel like you are in just another hotel. The location down town is great, with in an easy walk of the BOK Center.

I am so thrilled to hear that we are becoming your home away from home when you are traveling to Tulsa. The history of the hotel along with the recent remodel truly makes the hotel a destination unto itself. We are able to provide guests with the look and feel of the 1920s in our one of kind lobby, while still providing rooms with a modern feel and amenities to match.

The hotel is closer in proximity to the BOK Center than any other hotel which makes The Mayo an ideal place to stay no matter the event.

We are always striving to provide the guest with an experience that is one of a kind. I am happy that we were able to meet your expectations so that you left knowing we are not just another Downtown Tulsa hotel.

I have stayed at the Mayo periodically for the past few years when in Tulsa on business. I now schedule trips just for fun so that I can stay at this hotel. From the historic, opulent lobby to the contemporary, comfortable rooms, this hotel has it all! There are even residences on the upper floors of the hotel if you can't bear to leave. The downstairs restaurant/bar and penthouse bar are great as well. Very convenient to the BOK for concerts and downtown offices. The staff and manager are fantastic and work very hard to meet the customer's needs. I have even had a few celebrity sightings there. If you are in Tulsa, this hotel is a must-stay!

I am so happy to hear that you have begun to think of The Mayo as a great destination to visit in itself. We are able to provide all of the modern-day conveniences in our contemporary rooms while still featuring the elegance of the 1920s which truly makes the hotel special. We are only 3 blocks from the BOK Center so it is a perfect place to spend a concert night. It is true that you should always keep your eyes open when you are here; you never know who you may see staying at The Mayo. We greatly appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again soon!

The hotel is nice, but needs work. The room itself is nice, however for a suite a door is needed, and the fold out sofa is awful. The mattress is thin and springy, and they have no sheets, you have to call and ask for the sheets. Room service is normally expensive, but theirs is inordinately expensive, plus they close way to early. There was no bath tub, and no door for the shower...I realize that it's an off side shower, but a shower curtain would be nice, and omg!! talk about no towels. You get 2 towels, and 2 washcloths and that's it. They say check out is noon, but come knocking at the door at 9 am. The TV remote did not work, though the TV's are nice, and the king size bed is nice and comfy, as is the mattress. The downstairs bar is quite nice as well. The interior is beautiful, it's just not very functional at all. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice hotel, just not for the price that it costs. Stay at another hotel and spend less and you'll get more. During my next trip to Tulsa, this will not be the place I stay at. Also, a side note, there was a wedding going on while we were there, which was fine, however the people in the party were drunk; my 16 year old daughter went to get a cola, and she ran into the party and came back to the room immediately as there was an older man in their party that stared at her in an uncomfortable way. This did not occur in their area, just on the floor where a vending machine was.

Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us here at The Mayo Hotel. We have 103 rooms at the hotel and nearly half of those rooms are suites. We offer four different types of suites some of which come in a variety of layouts. We are able to accommodate guests who would prefer that the bedroom is completely cut-off from the living area.

We provide three bath towels, three hand towels, two wash clothes and a bath mat in every room. We are more than happy to provide extra towels by request.

Our room service prices are the same prices that are in our restaurant, however, there is an 18% gratuity fee added to room service orders.

I’m sorry that The Mayo did not live up to your expectations. I hope that you change your mind about returning to the hotel. I invite you to contact me personally to discuss these problems and how we could further improve the guest experience for future guests.

I lived in Tulsa for 4 years and have stayed in several hotels in and around the city. That being said, I have also had the privilege of staying at the Mayo hotel and spending time at the penthouse bar on weekends. The history of this hotel is incredible and the to period remodeling done to restore it is excellent. The staff at this hotel are the owners best asset next to the location and atmosphere. I would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Tulsa for business or leisure. Be sure to ask the staff about things to do and see as they will definitely inform you of several fun places to check out. Plenty to do downtown if you like good restaurants and bars/nightlife.

Room Tip: The suites are awesome if you are looking for more room and a funcional living area/kitchenette. The...

Thank you very much for your kind words. This type of feedback means the world to our staff.

It was very important to our owners when renovating to restore the hotel to its original splendor. The hotel’s history really is remarkable. We like to joke that we are Tulsa’s only 24-hour museum. The Mayo has been a social-hub since it’s opening in 1925. We have been privileged to host such guests as Elvis Presley, Ronald Reagan, Marilyn Monroe and many more. We are more than happy to give tours to future guests who provide advanced notice.

The Penthouse Bar is like no other place in Tulsa. It is open Thursday-Saturday night and is always a good time. We do occasionally close for private events so please contact us before your stay if you want to ensure that it is open.

Downtown really has a lot going on and our staff is more than happy to help find the right food or entertainment for you and your fellow travelers.

Again thank you so much for your great feedback. We hope that when you come back to visit Tulsa you always choose The Mayo.

We stayed here while attending a conference in Tulsa. We had a suite and it was very clean and nice with a full kitchen. Not that you could really enjoy the full kitchen. There was no dishes or silverware in the room. I would definitely come back if they had a special with my hubby. It is downtown, but there are a lot of beat restaurants not too far away.

Thank you so much for your feedback. Our suites are great no matter whether you’re traveling for business or spending a romantic weekend with a loved one. They do feature a full kitchen which we are more than happy to equip with all the kitchens utensils needed to prepare a meal. Guests can request this when making their reservation, when checking in or during their visit. We will also be informing future guests of this amenity when checking-into a suite.

Downtown Tulsa has seen substantial growth in the past couple of years. There are plenty of places within walking distance to find great food and entertainment. It’s an exciting time to be a member of the Downtown community.

We would love to have you and your husband back to visit us again. Please feel free to contact me personally to make those arrangements.
