“Visiting Winstar Casino”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

This is a very nice, clean place to stay while visiting Winstar. There is a shuttle that picks you up, drops you at the casino and delivers you back at 20 minute intervals. Breakfast is included with the room rate and has plenty to chose from.

The hotel is new and is very clean. I would compare it to a Holiday Inn Express to a Hilton Garden Inn. Nicely appointed furnishings. A large screen TV mounted on the wall, although there is NO SLEEP TIMER. Lamps throughout with outlets on the lamp. Microwave and fridge in the rooms. Bathroom is nice, although the tub is SMALL. Not much space to place shampoo, etc. Check-out is strange and inconvenient. You have to physically go to the desk to check out. And check-in is a little cumbersome as well. You have to sign/fill out three pages. Not sure why they feel the need for all of the CYA. It is extremely inconvenient to frequent travellers who like to get in and get out. But, all in all, I would stay here again if the casino is sold out (which was the case for this trip). The price is a little steep for what you get ($139). The casino is $149 and is much more convenient and a little nicer (although not a whole lot).

Very beautiful place to stay. I stayed at the winstar hotel, paid over $100.00 more then this hotel and got nothing more than a standard room. Next night drove across the south end parking lot to Red River and got a king suite for a whole lot less! Great price, great staff, all around great!

Room Tip: The king jacuzzi room is perfect!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

We stayed at the Red River Inn & Suites on the Saturday before Christmas. We were returning to Oklahoma after a family reunion in Dallas and decided last minute to try the Winstar casino for a night. Of course, the casino hotel was booked and quite expensive anyway on a Saturday evening concert night.

Initally, there was some confusion, because we went to the Best Western Red River Inn and were told we had no reservations. These two hotels are literally next door to each other and have the same name...rather odd!

Once we drove around the corner and checked into the correct hotel everything went fine. Check in was friendly, quick and easy. Reasonable last minute rate of $149/night considering proximity to Winstar. The room was clean and comfortable. Hotel also offered a lobby bar that looked nice even though we just peeked in.

The free shuttle made a loop about every ten minutes to the casino and we never had to wait. The drivers were very funny making jokes about our losses and in turn, the amount of our alcohol comsumption! LOL

The breakfast was sufficient consisting of toast, bagels, pastries, cereal, coffee, juice & milk. Area was clean and well maintained.

Although not as fancy as Winstar, certainly cheaper, thus giving you a few more bucks to gamble with! Would recommend this hotel.

We first arrived at the hotel and were pleased with the location (right by golf course and casino) and the new look and cleanliness off the hotel. After that though everything went downhill. They refused to forward calls to the room saying that they didn't want to disturb the customer. When we actually went to the front desk and asked them to forward the calls through they said that is against policy (first time I ever heard that!). Second, they immediately charged my credit card for all three rooms without asking me instead of settling up the bills in the morning with the actual occupants (again a first for me!). Third, they started pounding on our doors at 9am to clean (check out was 11am not 9am!) and at one point just opened the door and walked into our room without knocking at all again, way before checkout time.

The worst part however was the service from the front counter staff. Every single interaction with the two different girls who were working was terrible. They were very rude from start to finish and when we questioned them on the reasoning for the strange policies we got snotty remarks and attitude and at one point were told "if you don't like it you can always go to another hotel!" Don't worry, next time we will!

Stayed here for a night after golf and casino. The front desk would not forward calls to our room. Wanted us to call out from our room which would have cost a fortune seeing we are Canadian. Then the credit card we used to pre-authorize the 3 rooms was automatically charged without letting us know and they wouldn't reverse it. Then they were entering rooms 2 hours before checkout to clean, Without knocking, calling our rooms asking if we were leaving or staying another night, again before checkout time. For $200 a night, we never felt so unwelcome at a hotel in our life. Will not ever recommend or think of staying here again. Only thing good was cleanliness and location. Only stay here if all other hotels are full.
