First, I normally get the business rate at microtels, as I own my own business and travel for work purposes. That rate varies, but is typically a set price at somewhere between $50 and $65 per night, for any size room (suite or not). I called to confirm this was available, and was told it was, only to later discover they offered a mere 10% discount off of rates which were higher than many larger microtels I have visited in larger cities. That issue set aside, the hotel was much as I have come to expect of microtels, nice appearance, clean, and fairly standard. I had reserved a suite but was given a room, first issue. Then in that room, the bed was rock hard, and I actually finally slept on the floor after hours of trying to sleep on the mattress. The next morning I requested a new room, but was told all mattresses were identical, they had all come in on the same truck some short time before then. I returned in the afternoon, and with a different clerk at the desk repeated my request. This guy was much friendlier and more accommodating, giving me a suite (albeit it a suite with a broken pull-out sofa, not a big deal to me)... and the bed was softer, if still a bit firm for my tastes. In both rooms, again, everything else was as I have come to expect of microtel, modern, clean, and simple. The only other issue; I ended up paying for breakfasts elsewhere - the four days I stayed they had identical offerings, waffles, biscuits and gravy, and cold fruits/pastries, etc. No eggs, no fresh meats, nothing hot aside from gravy (which I do not like). I am accustomed to having some minor variety, always having eggs, sometimes with ham, sometimes with bacon, sometimes with sausage...and ocassionally other hot items, depending on the microtel. This was the worst microtel I have ever stayed at, and I doubt I will return - though I still like the brand in general.
