“Throwback to Vintage Hotels”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2011

If possible, book a rotunda suite on a high floor to get the best impact of this property. We called ahead and asked for a nice view and the reservation clerk did a great job of locking us into a nice one indeed. The room's sitting area is much larger than we expected, and the city views were great, although for the most part there was a great deal of construction going on in downtown Oklahoma City. Nice little touches like fainting couches and art deco appointments made the room glamorous. We trekked down to the swimming pool, which was smaller than we expected, and the lighting in the pool area is too dim. The fitness center is acceptable, but not large or notably equipped.Still, for Oklahoma, this was a good choice and the bell service was great, although the front desk staff was not up to par with what we'd expect from a highly rated hotel. At check-in, we had trouble with our room keys and the staff was not particularly sympathetic. In a larger city, the price of the room probably would have been lower, but since this is OKC, we imagine that there's just not that much competition.

Room Tip: Rotunda Rooms Rule!

Dear Chicolanta,
Thank you for your constructive observations. We appreciate the comments and they have been shared with the Team. Highlighting the Rotunda suites was great as they are indeed very unique. As we celebrate our 100th Anniversary later this year, we continue to strive being the best in what OKC and the South has to offer. We thank you for taking the time to review our Historic Hotel and look forward to your next visit when you travel to OKC.

I stayed here with my gal when we both attended a conference held in the hotel. The hotel well restored and has a great atmosphere - great lobby, restaurant and bar and the rooms are spacious, nicely decorated and comfortable (even during a historic heat wave) - expensive but in this case you get what you’re paying for. This hotel is beautiful and centrally located in the downtown area within walking distance of the Bricktown area including the Canal, Toby Keith's Grill, and the OKC Memorial. Staff was helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel & restaurant, minor quibble is that they charge for internet access which is a common but annoying trend in luxury properties.

Room Tip: Ask for a king suite

I have stayed at the Skirvin for the last 5+ years, but have never stopped to write a review. THe only negative thing I have to say, is that once you stay at the Skirvin no other Hotel will measure up. The facilities are incredible, the food excellent, but it is the staff that sets this Hotel apart. From the minute you hit the front door and are greeted by the Valet staff that is just amazing to check in , to housekeeping to the restaurant staff all go that extra mile This hotel has the unique ability to make you feel less like a guest and more like family!

Thank you so much for this awesome review. Our Team is over the moon with your kind words and will continue to do every day everything possible to live up to them. They take pride in the random acts of kindness and there could not be a better compliment then that you feel less like a guest, but more like family. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED and continued welcome to the Family. Cheers!

Located just a short walk to Bricktown, movie theatre, and convention center - great location... and historic. Very classy, great bar and bar tenders. There's even a "courtesy limo" to drop you off for dinner and pick your drunk butt up later to bring you home - GENIUS! Very comfy beds, nice bathroom/shower, next time I'm in OKC I'll be staying there.

I stayed here for 5 days during a conference and the hotel is conveniently close to the conference center. The hotel has a great atmosphere - great lobby, restaurant and bar and the rooms are spacious, nicely decorated and comfortable - maybe a bit too expensive but the quality goes with that.

The Hotel is really beautiful. That is about all of the nice things I can say. Every person that we encountered (not including Management) needed training. The training was not of the caliber the Hotel represents. No one greeted us personally or with a smile. We were not made to feel at home and will probably not stay there again. One problem we encourted is our bathroom sink was stopped up. I called and 24 hours later it still was full of water.

I travel to Oklahoma City quite a bit for work and try to stay at the Skirvin whenever possible. This hotel is very cool and extremely well restored. The rooms are pretty decently sized and very luxurious. This is probably one of the most upscale hotels in Oklahoma.

The breakfast buffet is AWESOME; I highly recommend it even if you aren't staying at the hotel.

The hotel is downtown and conveniently located near Bricktown (walking distance), so you can go out to a minor league baseball game or to tons of restaurants and bars.
