An Oklahoma tradition. Best steak I've had in Oklahoma. House dressing and rolls are excellent. Finish off a wonderful meal with a delicious piece of chocolate pie.

Service: We took a group of 19 adults to Cattlemen's on a Thursday night. They do not take reservations so we were a bit skeptical about getting seating in a timely fashion. One of our group go there about 15 minutes early and got us on "the list." The hostess said it would take about 25 minutes....and although all the tables were full, it was just about 25 minutes until we were seated. They have a roomy upstairs waiting area with cash bar service and ample seating. They put our group at two adjacent tables and assigned 2 servers to our group -- one for each table. This setup made the service very efficient. Although each server had about 10 people to serve, they both made it seem effortless. Seperate checks were no problem. Drink and appetizer orders were taken right away and served promptly. Before the appetizers were gone, they took entree orders. All of the orders were correct and there was no "who ordered the ___?" questions. Before leaving us to eat, the server asked us check our steaks for doneness and there was no problem sending the steak back for a few more minutes on the grill. servers were very good about checking back on us and recognizing when drinks were getting low.
Food: Come here for the steaks. As the name implies, steaks are the house specialty. There are other things on the menu, but the steaks are the best. This is not a fine suit-and-tie steakhouse like Ruths Chris or Mortons. This is a rough-sawn lumber, cowboy steakhouse in the Oklahoma City Stockyard district. Wranglers, boots, cowboy hats, and big belt buckles are welcome. You are going to get a big, thick, well-aged, locally-grown steak with light seasoning so the real flavor comes through. And they are good! They have name-brand steak sauce, but you won't need it. It's going to be served with a baked potato, green salad with house ranch dressing, and rolls -- unless you ask for a substitute. Get a locally-brewed Double Deuce beer for the complete Oklahoma City Stockyards experience. Enjoy!

Extremely busy and it was only a TUE night. Luckily I was alone on business and the counter had plenty of space so I sat right away.

Enjoyed the Pepper steak with Mac n cheese and some of the house made Double Deuce beer. Loved it all. I never get dessert but they have my one exception: lemon meringue pie, homemade. Took it to go. Felt very satisfied after this meal.

At lunch we were fortunate to find a table. For a January day, we were surprised to find it so busy. But the service was swift, cooked as requested and served with a smile from the waiter. We couldn't leave OKC without a meal at Cattleman's. and of course, the horseback deputy was on guard out on the street. A great place to feel back in time but can purchase items for today's usage.
