“Best plain chain hotel in Downtown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2011

The Renaissance in OKC is, IMO, the best plain chain hotel in downtown.
I say Plain Chain because the Hilton Skirvin is better, but nothing about it is plain being more of a boutique hotel. :)
Having said that, our stay at the Renaissance was enhanced by the attitude and friendliness of the staff. Everyone we dealt with was very prompt with their service and treated us like one expects to be treated.
The room was a good size, the bed comfortable, and the amenities what one would expect from a Renaissance hotel.
As others have discovered, prices in the restaurant are high even for a downtown hotel restaurant, but we chose to eat elsewhere, so that did not bother us.
As with another recent stay at a Marriott property we were using reward points and there was a charge on our credit card (this one appeared several days after check-out) that should have been charged directly to Marriott corporate. They promptly removed it when I called about it, but it was another inconvenience.

Exceptional guest service is the ultimate goal and top priority at the hotel, so we are pleased that your experience with the staff was so positive. When we checked in the staff at the door was very kind and helpful even offering us free bottle of water and leading in the direction of our room. The room was very nice but there were plumbling issues because we could hear pipes running all night making for little quality sleep.room service was very pleasant and timely. the hotel restaurant is clean and staff was friendly but prices are outrageous. However, the bar and coffee shop were fealthy with slow and sloppy service. We waited 20 minutes for reg latte. Second day latte is made wrong and waited quite a bit for it. When we got our latte it was so cold and watered down i asked for a manager. The manager did replace it at no cost but was very short and didnt seem concerned at all about our time and her mishap. the perks- the hotel is connected to the skbridge and across from bricktown and the cox convention center which makes up for the bad service.

Nothing can compare to a good night's rest and we truly regret that your sleep was disturbed during your recent stay. We would have liked to attend to any noise disruptions at the time of your stay to assure a restful and relaxing visit for you. Although we were pleased to learn of your positive experience with our staff upon check-in, we would have hoped that the service remained as positive throughout your stay. Thank you for mentioning the convenience of our location to the Cox Convention Center with easy access from the Sky Bridge. Bricktown offers great shopping, dining, and exciting entertainment all within an easy walk. We hope we can welcome you back to the Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel and look forward to delivering service that exceeds your expectations.

We arrived at this hotel on 4 September 2011 at about 2pm.

The location across from Bricktown and the view from room 1519 was excellent.

The room was very good for $103 per night, but once you add $25 valet (and tips), and $16.24 in taxes, the total is half again the amount of the room. That sucks. For taxes that is unfortunately the norm as most cities and states are gouging us every single cent that they can. I dislike both valet parking and the expense and in the future would consider other hotels that may less costly parking.

Marriott is always good wherever you go though not perfect. Upon arrival at the check-in desk we waited behind a gentleman and his family for a full 2 minutes before someone showed up at the desk. The man was irked because he said he had been waiting for 5 minutes. After he told me that I was about ready to use their desk phone to page somebody.

Over all we think it was a good deal for location, view, amenities and service.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Bricktown

The BrickTown area, once a busy warehouse neighborhood, hosts some of the city's best restaurants and entertainment. It was nice to hear how much you enjoyed your view of the BrickTown Canal District from your room at the Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel. Although infrequent, there are occasions when the front desk staff member may need to step away for a moment and we would like to extend our apologies for any delay you may have experienced. Parking in Oklahoma City can be difficult and it's for this reason we offer valet services to our guests. Thank you for being a loyal and frequent visitor of Marriott Hotels and we hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back again soon.

I liked the location of this hotel and the lobby is very nice. The bar is cozy as well. The room was alright but I found the vending machines very over priced.

Thank you for sharing your impressions of the Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel. Although we do not set the prices for the vending machines, we are sorry that you felt the items were overpriced. The Bar at 10 North is a local hotspot serving one the most extensive scotch selections in the city. We offer a great Happy Hour nightly and we’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your time here. We hope that you will stay with us again soon.

Stayed here for pleasure while going to an event near by. Rooms clean, staff friendly. Service great. Pool and hot tub wonderful. The restaurant had decent food but was over priced. However, the hotel is within walking distance of bricktown and has tons of fantastic restaurants.

Stayed in the Renaissance and used the handy SkyBridge to get to the Convention Center- especially nice on a rainy day. However, my room was nothing special- no mini-bar, no chair except the small one at the desk. Doors on the closet and bathroom seemed to open on the wrong side.

The Sky Bridge is a glass enclosed walk way that connects the Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel to the neighboring Cox Convention Center and meeting room complex and we’re pleased that this was convenient for you during your stay. It is unfortunate that we were not able to exceed all your expectations regarding your accommodations and hope you’ll let us know if there’s anything we may do to make your stay more comfortable in any future visits. Thank you for sharing your view point with us.

Arrived on Amtrak, and hotel is right across the street from the station.
Very nice, upscale hotel. We were given a room on the "club level" which allowed for free breakfast, and snacks each evening (do not know how or why we were upgraded, but it was nice).

Hotel is within walking distance of Myriad Gardens, Murrah memorial, and Bricktown.

Indoor pool has strong chlorine smell, but that is not really a problem....all in all...really nice hotel for the 90 bucks a night we paid!

Room Tip: Great view facing west.
