“The first bite will convince you that's its the best fried chicken ever.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Wow! I don't know how they do it, but the fried chicken is amazing. This is a no frills, laid back place in a small Oklahoma town, but it has been there since 1896, which says something. Menu choices are very limited, but they are the best at what they do. The 3 of us split a "whole fried chicken" and the okra. Be sure and check the website, as they don't take plastic. Also, go at an off time or expect a wait (up to 2 hours on the weekend). But however you do it, just go!!! BTW... it is a family friendly place, even if the word bar in in the name!

“Great Fried Chicken”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

The place is very busy on Saturday... So go early. You seat yourself so stand around and when a table comes open grab it or you can sit at the bar. I thought the chicken was very good... The Breast was moist and had good flavor. Okra was very good also. Take cash with you... No credit or debt and no Tea to drink. Overall this is a really neat place and I will go back if I am ever in the area.

“The Real Deal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Just about the best fried chicken I've ever had, after Aunt Mildred's (actually that would be my Great-Aunt Mildred). And perfect fried okra.

They don't sell it by the piece, they cook up a full chicken and you get eight pieces of the best, authentic fried chicken you're likely to try. If you want a secret blend of eight herbs and spices you better go to a chain restaurant. They also sell roast beef and beef BBQ sandwiches, chili and nachos - but go for the chicken. The chicken arrives in a paper basket, a basket of pickles and onion and a basket of white bread. No plates, you get several sheets of butcher paper. Napkins are in the napkin dispenser on the table.

Beer, soda and water - don't expect wine, espresso, coffee or tea.

I like the ambiance, it's my kind of place. A genuine small town dive bar. Cash only and don't expect someone to greet you at the door and seat you. It's a neighborhood bar so of course the regulars are going to look at you, especially if you drop in during the middle of the week. Just smile and nod, maybe raise your bottle of Shiner.

Be prepared, weekends might often have a long wait, but we were able to get right in the Saturday before Memorial Day with no wait.

“Good friends, Good Food and Cold Beer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

My first time visiting Eischen's bar was great. The food was extremely good and served fast and hot. The fried chicken and okra are awesome. The only negative, which my not be a negative for some people, is a lot of their tables are large tables and this place is so popular that you may end up having to sit at a table with strangers at your table and sitting right next to you. If you are willing to wait a bit, you can probably get your own table or booth though.

“Favorite chicken”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

It's a former bar that now serves chicken. You want some chicken? You buy an entire chicken. It's cut into the usual eight pieces, battered, and deep fried. It's fantastic. I've read the reviews from people who thought it's just as good as a KCF or grocery store deli, but they are wrong. It's much better. Those people heard all the great reviews, and they made the drive to Okarche expecting to have chicken from heaven or something better. No, it's fried chicken. But it's consistently very, very good chicken, served piping hot, with simple sides of white bread, pickles, and onions. If this place was closer to my home, I'd weigh 500 pounds. The chicken is much, much better than anything and national or regional chain has to offer. It's worth the hour long drive for us.
