“Poor service, no attention to detail, mediocre breakfast.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2010

Number one-do NOT eat in their restaurant for dinner. They are terribly slow and the service is terrible, then they added on gratuity automatically-for TWO people! The room was dusty and poorly maintained. I had a good time, but only because I was with my favorite person in the world, not because of the B&B. We could have stayed home and had just as much fun and saved some money. Also, we went to leave and get pizza (because the dinner was less than satisfactory), and we were blocked in by the restaurant customers! No way out! Ugh.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2009

First, the good: The house is beautiful, with lots of gorgeous furnishings and decorations. If you're looking to spend one night in a beautiful setting with a four-poster bed and a jacuzzi tub, this might be a reasonable place for you to consider. Then, the bad: Maintenance of the house is poorly done, and the service is absolutely atrocious.
1. Things started badly: although we called ahead to let them know what time we'd be arriving, the exterior lights were not on for us, and we had to stumble up the front walkway in the dark.
2. Although we'd booked 5 months in advance for a week in the Garden Room (which we chose because it had a shower as well as a tub, and because it was on the first floor, so we wouldn't have to carry suitcases upstairs), the room was not available -- we were placed on the 3rd floor in the Silk Stocking Room, which has no shower (and no door between the bedroom and bath -- just a curtain), and were told we'd be moved the next day.
3. No assistance was provided either in carrying our bags up to the 3rd floor, or in moving our bags the following day.
4. Breakfast was quite mundane, and service was poor (e.g., no knives at the place settings; a box with a variety of teabags -- but no hot water).
5. The following day, we were moved -- but not to the Garden Room, which was still not available, but to the Honeymoon Suite on the 2nd floor. The hot water faucet on the sink was broken and barely worked, several light bulbs were burned out, and the shower door was loose, and didn't close correctly. There were no clothes hangers in the closet. Neither of the two rooms we were in had shampoo provided.
6. The third morning, we'd arranged to have breakfast at 9:30 (since the owner said "she couldn't be waiting around the house all morning for us" after we'd been "late" for breakfast the second morning we were there -- even though she'd never discussed when breakfast was served.) When we got downstairs at 9:30, the owner had just gotten up, and had not yet begun prepare breakfast. Breakfast, again, was quite mundane. The owner complained to us about another guest who'd spilled something onto one of the dry-clean-only placemats she'd used at the breakfast table. Feeling like you have to be careful not to spill anything on a placemat at breakfast doesn't lead to a very welcoming feeling at a B&B.
7. Also that morning, we were told that the Garden Room was now available, and we had to move, since the room we were in was booked.
8. After we'd packed to move down to the Garden Room, we just decided to leave the B&B and stay elsewhere, since we were already packed, and were not enjoying our stay there. The owner attempted to overcharge us -- charging the weekend rate for each of the 3 nights we were there (2 of which were weeknights) -- by claiming that she had to charge extra because of the Christmas holidays. Charging extra for holidays is fine -- but only if you let people know this when they make their reservation. It's not something you should spring on guests as they're checking out.
9. Some of the things listed on their website, such as the outdoor hot tub, were nowhere in evidence. There was, however, a cat, which has the run of the common areas of the house, and which was not listed on the website. For people with cat allergies, it's really important to know if there are cats in a house. We noticed that the cat was allowed to climb everywhere, including on a table holding glassware that had been used to serve us drinks the first night we were there.
10. All in all, it was a fairly awful experience. Although I don't feel like the owner was deliberately attempting to be nasty or inhospitable, I really feel that she has neither the business skills nor the temperament to be running a B&B.

My wife and I had such a nice romantic and relaxing stay at the G-C house. Frannie is such a great cook which made it very hard to leave.. If you're ever in Muskogee, stay here.. make sure you ask for the crepes!

My husband and I stayed her a coupl years ago and at that time we very very satisfied with this bed and breakfast. This is a beautiful house and we were able to view all of the rooms. We had no complaints.
Breakfast was wonderful. We haven't gotten a chance to go back and visit but definitely would.
