I had heard so much about Meers. My daughter had told me about the place when they lived in Lawton. My son who is an over the road truck driver said he heard about it on the Truckers Radio station several times and everybody raves about the place. Well, my daughter and her husband and son have since moved to a different part of the country, but my grand-daughter,s husband recently returned from a deployment in Afghanistan so my wife and I went to Lawton to help welcome him home. I told my daughter that I wanted to go to Meers while we were down there. When we all got there and got our food, the Meers burger just wasn't what I had expected it to be. I admit, that I have never had a longhorn burger before so maybe it was supposed to taste the way it did. I read in another review on here that the longhorn burger is supposed to be dried out, so if that's the case then I guess they did a perfect job cooking it because it was very dry. Don't get me wrong, it was good but just not that good. Nothing at all like I had thought it would be after hearing so much about it. The okra and fried pickles were great though. We didn't really have a problem with the service. Our server was friendly and took care of us. I did like the atmosphere was great. I liked that part a lot. My son wanted me to get some of their Meers Beer while I was there, so on my way out I told the cashier that I wanted to by six four packs of their beer. She looked at me like I was nuts, and after she said that will be $119 and some change I knew why. I said "WHAT AM I BUYING, THE BUILDING"??? She told me that it was $19.97 a four pack or something like that. I told her to take three of them off the order. I mean, they are 22 once bottles, but $19 plus for four bottles??? WOW!!! The four pack box says Meers Gold, so all I can say is that it better taste like gold for that price. lol Would I recommend going to Meers? I don't know. I guess I would say go there and try it it and see for your self if you like it or not. Maybe it's just me, but if I'm ever in Lawton again, I'll probably go to Billy Simms BBQ instead. Although, I did want the peach cobbler but didn't get it. After leaving I wished I had gotten it because it sounded so good. Maybe I would go back and at least get the cobbler if I am ever in the area again.
