“Great summer getaway on Grand Lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

Our experience with Candlewyck Cove Resort on Grand Lake was excellent! Our accommodations were clean and comfortable. The staff was accommodating, polite, and prompt. The grounds of the resort are quiet, well maintained, and the waterfall is an excellent touch. The boat rental was painless and the boat we rented was in excellent shape. The owners obviously care about providing an experience worth the money and we will be back!

This resort is beautiful. It isn't huge but has plenty of space for large family reunions. The property is on the lake and they have a lot of watercraft rental options. Children are very safe to walk around the resort and there is plenty to do. The staff is extremely accommodating and considerate. They called to be sure we didn't get lost on our late check in.
I would go back every year.

Room Tip: One main house and one cabin have lake views.

My husband and I just stayed at Candlewyck for the weekend. We enjoyed our stay. We rented one of the single cabins. It was clean and comfortable; however, the carpet is in need of a good cleaning. The people were very friendly and the staff worked very hard to make sure everyone was taken care of. The complimentary boat slip was a big plus. If you bring your own boat, the boat ramp you use is a little tricky. You have to back down the ramp a considerable distance and once you reach the water, there is very little concrete and you put your boat trailer right into the lake. This is a very nice resort; however, think it is overpriced for what you get.

We have been frequent guests at the resort over the years and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every visit. The staff is friendly, the rooms are very nice and the setting is tremendous and very relaxing. My only "problem" with the resort is that the satellite t.v. goes out WAY too much, which can really be an issue if you are in the middle of something you really want to see.

The staff was so helpful. As inexperienced boaters, we had great help and service at the dock. Marina is on the property. Allowed dogs in the cabins which was perfect for our family. I love that they have a fire pit on Saturday nights even though we could not attend. Sorry we missed it. Continental breakfast was excellent with great help to make your waffles, etc. Pool was great. Only disappointment was the broken hot tub but we were aware of that before arriving. Great housekeeping service, golf cart service to/from marina. Convenient mini store in office that we bought from several times- everything you might need. Office staff welcoming. Perfect weekend trip for our whole family! Would definitely return!

I've gone to Candlewyck off and on since 2004. When I first started, it felt like a family run business. It's now an operation with many more employees so it's less personable. My room kitchen and bathroom floors were dirty. They needed swept and mopped. The baseboards were filthy. The prices have exploded. The large house used to be $2,000 for a week. It's now $3,200. We could get a pontoon boat for $800 and keep it that whole week. It's now $450 for 8 hours. They had a bonfire while we were there but they spent almost an hour trying to light it and it only lasted for about 30 min. I still love the lake and the cove it's in. I highly recommend the large houses and to go with a group but take your own boat. If you don't mind dirty floors, no biggie. If you do, take shoes to wear the whole time. Also, when we rented the boat for 4 hours, you don't truly get 4 hours. They spent 30 min of our boating time getting the equipment and reviewing the rules during that time and then charged us almost $300 for 4 hours. I didn't like that. Would I go back? Maybe. They are family friendly - they have a pool, swing set, fire pit, volleyball, tether ball, etc. They have deck hands that will drive you to the dock. They have a continental breakfast on the weekends. The waffles and fruit are yummy. I like Grove, OK where it's located.

Room Tip: The large houses are awesome. Very pricey though but fun with a large group.
