“Miserable”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2011

The Rodeway Inn is located on a small side street just off interstate 40. It looks sleazy from the outside, and the rooms are worse.

My room was located on the back, and was quiet. The furniture was terrible, mismatched, and old. The room had two queens; one was adequate at best (love the pink sheets), but the other second had only a box spring, no mattress. The air conditioner worked, but was terribly noisy. All of the electrical devices (mini-fridge, micro, tv, floor lamps, were powered through two electrical power strips, with cabling run around. Several of the electrical outlets had no covers, a hazard. The bath was antiquated at best.

The front office staff was cordial though, and admitted that their touted high speed internet was really only wifi and spotty at best.

No thanks. There are better choices right across the street.

Booked on line on the road, got there and could not understand the clerk due to heavy accent. He also would not change the rate to a senior rate, from what I'd accidentally booked as the "Best Available Rate". room was not in good upkeep and door had a 1/4" gap around jamb when closed. Choice Priveleges membership is not worth the hassle and sometimes poor quality service and accomodations.

When I checked into my room I noticed there were dirty washcloths in front of each of the rooms - and the doors were all wide open. The weather outside was over 100 degrees, so the room was so hot - it took a while for the room to cool down and there were about 10 flies in the room. The furniture and bedspreads in the room were so old and dingy. The bathroom sink was so cracked, the shower did not drain (so by the end of my shower I was standing in water past my ankles), the dresser did not have handles, etc. I am used to staying at "budget" motels, but I would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay away - STAY FAR AWAY!!!!

I HATED this hotel. It was pretty much the worst room I have ever stayed in. After entering our first room -- run down - dirty - gross -- we went back to the desk and asked for something else. Better was the basic idea. There was no noticeable improvement. IF it had not been so late we would have driven on. Simply horrible!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2010

Made a late night stop here traveling across the country with my cat. I found the place very clean and comfortable. They charged me just $5 for the cat. This is probably the cleanest place I have stayed under $50. Given the old reviews, new management must have changed quite a bit. I was very happy. It is now called "Econo Inn" and even though it is just a couple blocks off the freeway (and quiet), it can be a bit tricky to find (it is behind the Clarion) with only a small sign along the road. I found the management friendly and very helpful.

It's like a different place than I stayed in last year. It has been bought and the new management made improvements. It's now a great value, where before it was just a cheap place to stay.
I mentioned the bad reviews to the manager, and she said things had changed. I could come look at all the rooms to see the difference. It is clean and many things had been replaced. It even smelled good!
After our first night, we mentioned that the door was a bit drafty, so she moved us immediately to the room next door. The service was responsive and very helpful.

My God, what an absolute dump!!!

My daughter was playing on the 'carpet', and her legs and feet were filthy black after about ten minutes. I've been to plenty of hotels/motels over the years, and this one was one of the worst!
