Have been to Broken Bow area a few times before, always nice, even in the winter. Have floated the river below the Re-Reg dam before with no problems BUT...We were told there would be no problems floating it this past wkend. They were so wrong! We were told by several that the water flow must have been turned down because it was lower. We were lucky we weren't hurt bad. Wife has bruises from turning over due to not enough water flow. 14 yr old son almost got hurt. I never had such a bad float experience. Just be careful if you float and don't believe outfitters because they don't control the flow.
The area otherwise is a great area. Will definitely go back again. Don't limit yourself to just this area, drive around and enjoy the scenery. But beware of the wildlife. Have known several that have hit deer with some major automobile damage and when we were packing up things to go home, I noticed a copperhead, but thought it's colors were a little different. Cabin owner came out and killed it. Turned out to be a timber rattler less than 2 ft. away from my car. A hospital stay for sure had it bitten one of us.
