“Relaxing at the Mill”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

What a beautifully restored gristmill located in the city of Yellow Springs, Ohio. Yellow Springis is located near Dayton, Ohio and the home to Antioch College. Downtown Yellow Springs has many eclectic shops and numerous interesting eateries. The downtown area also has a wonderful small, approximately 100 seats, motion picture theatre. The theatre has recently been renovated and shows current independent movies such as "Nebraska." The theatre seats have cup holders to hold your drinks which can include beer or wine available in the lobby. The popcorn is great !
The Grinnell Mill B & B is beautiful with three bedrooms for overnight lodging . The accommodations are up to date and very peaceful and comfortable. Great hiking is available within walking distance of the MIll. The Glen Helen Nature Preserve and the John Bryan State Park are located right next to the Grinnell Mill B & B.

Rented the entire mill. 2 bedrms up w/own baths (shower), huge suite dwn w/2 beds & 1 bath (tub). The 2 bed ste has no one above so no worry about hearing anyone. Very clean & beautiful wood throughout w/many historical pictures of before & after of this wonderful place. Easy to find. Great deck w/big grill. Can walk to the Little Miami River. Breakfast food was continental w/muffins brought in at 7am, otherwise yogurt, oatmeal, cereal there w/milk, OJ & popcorn. Full kitchen & fullsize fridge. Only comfy seating was love seat upstairs by larger TV. Take a cushion with you for the wood rockers and picnic table for dining. TVs in each BR w/ none on 1st floor. Advertised as a B&B but I'm not sure I would want to share with someone you didn't know as the floors as very open & no seating in bedrooms other than beds. Depends on how friendly you want to be but really no privacy away from others. Great for groups!! Since this is a historical building, there were people walking around outside to see the mill. Jim or Randy gave us a sign to put on the front door stating there was a private function & that the mill was closed to the public-we kept the front door locked to deter curious people. Hope to make this an annual visit-so full of history & lovingly restored. You're permitted to go in basement & up on 3rd floor where there are lots of things kept from when the mill was in operation. Wonderful!

Room Tip: Tub-2 bedroom; Shower-1 bedrooms

Didn't quite know what to expect when we made plans to stay here. This is an old mill that has been lovingly, beautifully and expertly restored. It's actually a non-profit and is open to the public on week-ends.
We were met by one of the men who played a major role in the renovation - Randy. He has a wealth of information about the mill and about the history of the area. He is happy to share his knowledge.
We stayed in one of the two rooms upstairs. Everything is new and you are surrounded by beautiful wood. The bed was great. The bathroom ditto. This is considered a B&B but it is of the type where the makings of breakfast are left for you and you're on your own to fix what you want. There is someone who comes early in the morning to make coffee and leave fresh muffins. There is yogurt, cereal and fruit - plenty to make a filling meal. I'm pretty sure guests can also use the kitchen space to cook for themselves.
The inn can be rented in its entirety for gatherings of family, friends, etc. I think it would be a wonderful location. There is a lot of shared space, a fireplace, games, a deck - all you need to have a good time in a very comfortable environment.
I particularly enjoyed the night noises from the surrounding woods and the great variety of bird songs during the day.
