Description: The Olde Jaol facility was built in 1865, and was claimed to be the finest sheriff facility of its kind. In 1977 the Wayne county sheriffs department was relocated across the street to a new facility. Subsequently, the old jail was registered as a historical landmark in 1980 and in 1995 The Olde Jaol Steakhouse / Tavern was given life. We have an excellent reputation for quality and service.Today, the Olde Jaol houses the finest in food and hospitality. We recommend our Certified Angus Beef® steak entrées. Only 8 percent of beef is tasty enough to meet the brand’s high standards. It’s simply the tastiest, juiciest, most tender beef you’ll ever have.

“Not a bad little roadhouse"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2012

I was in town for business and needed a place to grab a sandwich and good beer. The hotel recommended this place. It's right next door to the old jaol "fine dining" restaurant, so don't let that confuse you (it did me at first). They have a separate entrance. Nice beer selection, TV's, burgers - basic roadhouse grub. On Thursday they had 1/2 price chicken sandwiches, so that's what I ordered - BBQ sauce on it was a bit too sweet for my taste but the fries were really good. I think the tall beer was around $5 and burgers around $10.

“Solid selection in the city of Wooster”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

We enjoyed an early dinner with family and friends, 8 in all. First time for all of us. My son, 13, said his burger was the one of the best he'd had. Philly steak, chicken flatbread, open faced steak sandwich, cole slaw, portabella sandwich...all good. Good variety of tasty desserts and a large beer menu. Service was fine. I would go again.

“Great atmosphere, food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2012

I had a 1/2 slab of their ribs, sweet potato and slaw. All were very good. The slaw was really good, for slaw.

Went to the Tavern before a football game. Six of us had different things and everyone was pleased.
