Don't judge this exceptional Italian ristorante by its very ordinary exterior. Inside its humble storefront facade is a delightful date-night eatery that has fast become one of our favorites for a variety of reasons. Having sampled many of their entrees between us, my wife and I are now confident that every meal there will be mouth-watering from the peerless sourdough bread in seasoned-olive-oil dip appetizer to the veal/pork/chicken/scallops and pasta entrees we savor. All of this is served in a relaxed, romantic setting, with candle-lit tables covered with white tablecloths in dining rooms accented with string lights. The nicely appointed wine bar adds depth to the date if you wish to wait there before your table is open. A very healthy sign for a special occasion ristorante in a working class neighborhood is that Vittorio's is often filled with locals at dinner time. Add to its extraordinary qualities that it also offers tremendous "specials" ($9 for Pork or Chicken Vittorio/Parmigiana meals complete with salads) several nights each week and you are looking at one of the best values in the region. As for the service, my wife and I never go to Vittorio's for a quick meal so we find the relaxed pace of service there just fine. In our many experiences there, every waitress has been friendly and conscientious, if not ever-present. If you give their "special" a try on a Tuesday-Thursday night, you will want to order a bottle of wine as a guilty pleasure just b/c you can't believe the value. Vittorio's is a real diamond in the rough!
