“Good and Bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed here last night, and were very happy with a lot of things... But one thing ruined it and will never stay here again.. First with the good:

The lady who checked us in was wonderful and very nice. We thought the room was wonderfully clean and the kitchenette in the room was a great touch, especially for long visits. The bathroom was a great size also. The lady who was at the desk was still there when we left for dinner, and offered to direct us to other things to do in the area. She made us feel very welcome.

The ONE thing that ruined it was that this evening when I got home, I checked my bank statement and there was a charge for $130 from the hotel that I was not informed of. Apparently, it's a hold on my account and the only way for it to be removed before its removal on the 15th, is for the bank, hotel, and myself to do a conference call and both have to cancel the transactions. I am very upset about this because even though I booked on Priceline, I was not informed about this charge. It would have changed my entire mentality if I was only someone told me about this charge.

“Best service, especially for a mid-priced hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

We visit this area frequently and have stayed at a number of properties. Most of them have gone downhill with sloppy housecleaning and unattentive service. So when we booked here, we weren't expecting much.

The service was great. Any question we had - from directions to the area - to the housekeeping, was excellent. Our room was clean. The room smelled fresh.

You also get a choice of two fitness centers to visit with your room key. Both are very nice. Their small workout room had good working equipment. As many frequent travelers know, many hotel gyms have substandard cardio equipment that needs to be replaced.

Only one minor complaint - they need to replace the pillows. But for the price? We plan to stay here again.

“Worth a look.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

While I had some renovations done to my home in Southeast Michigan and had never been to The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame it made sense to hop in the car and go to Cleveland. Got a studio as I was traveling alone and it was just fine. Queen bed was comfy, a small kitchen was a welcome sight and the desk was sturdy. TV was a 32" LG and while the channel selection was limited at least some of them were in HD. Wi-FI worked well and was free.
A bit of a challenge find at first, but close to the highway and easy access to the mistake on the lake.

“Friendly & convenient”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012 via mobile

We had lived here for approximately two months whilst needing access to the Cleveland Clinic. The staff are incredibly friendly and professional, and the facilities are on par with a great quality efficiency hotel designed for longer term stays. These really feel like a home away from home in terms of the basic necessities of apartment living. There are laundry facilities, a nice exercise room with free weights and elliptical and treadmill. The property is kept nice in appearance and safe too. The breakfast is a continental style that you can either take with you or to your room and utilize silverware and plates etc.

I have stayed at this same location several times since for shorter term stays and the experience was just as friendly and the property was clean and tidy, lots of parking and safe lot too with easy access to interstate 90 and local restaurants within walking distance. Crocker Park shopping area is one exit away too and that is worth the trip.

This hotel is located behind the Courtyard Marriott and so is quite a way from the traffic noise making this a quiet location. There is also a park and ride bus stop area close by too that makes it easy to commute to other places if you do not want to drive.

“OK, has potential to be a lot more.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

Visiting Westlake for business and stayed at this hotel. Location was convenient, right off the highway and a short easy drive to get to work. While it was close to the highway it was not noisy. This hotel has no adjoining rooms which is a positive. The rooms are like mini-dorm like suites, has a bathroom, living/office area with a kitchenette. I did not get a chance to use the kitchenette so I cannot comment if it was good or not. It was nice to have the frig to keep your water cold and bring back left overs. Bedroom is off the living suite. Both living area and bedroom had a TV. Bathroom was clean, towels were decent. Couch looked worn out and stained, did not sit on it. Living area looked tired and could use a refresher overall. Light over the table was flithy which was gross because I hit my head on it three times, it is WAY too low!

The AC was cranked when I arrived (translation it was too cold) and I turned off all the Air. The next day when I opened the bedroom door it smelled strongly of old stale smoke to me which is a huge factor to determine if I will return to a hotel or not. Having the air on made it much less noticable but I generally turn off the air at night if I can because I find it way too noisy at most hotels. So each morning the odor was strong in the living area. Based on the smoke smell experience I would not return to that hotel without trying out other locations first. I have found that when 1 room is like that at a hotel there is always another and I do not want to get stuck with that smell. I stayed in room 219.

It was a quiet place to stay which is very important for me on a stay. The staff was polite and professional. The breakfast bar was minimal (no cut fruit bar or hot food) and cramped, I took a banana everyday and ate out as there was no place to eat downstairs.

The bed was comfortable and the bedding was clean and looked fairly new. It was frustrating that the bedroom door could only be fully opened or fully closed. If you tried to close it part way it would always self close because the door is not level.

The outside looks nicer than the inside of this hotel and it was moderately disappointing because I was expecting cleaner, fresher appearance indoors to match appearance outdoors.

I am very picky person so I think for most people this would be a decent place to stay, especially for a week long business trip. But for the person who is sensitive to smells I recommend the Holiday Inn in Westlake. If you want a quiet place to stay, I recommend the Town Place Suite. My next trip I am staying at the Courtyard Marriott. These are the only locations I have stayed at in the Westlake/Cleveland area so far.

I would stay here again but it is not my preference.

Room Tip: 219 was quiet at end of hall. Smells like cigarette smoke when the air is off.
