“A perfect getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

Found this lovely hotel by chance after looking for that rarest of places, a character hotel with proper disabled accommodation. The ground floor room is close to the lounge, bar and dining room, but tucked away so there is no noise to disturb you at night. The room was very comfortable and has the best wet room and disabled facilities of any hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff are uniformly very pleasant and helpful and the owners/managers are on site and attentive. The icing on the cake is the wonderful food and the excellent and good value wine list. Set in a very quiet village but only a few minutes from Sherborne, this is somewhere will be definitely visiting again.

Room Tip: Our room was excellent for someone who can't do stairs.

Went for a break at this hotel and found it to be very friendly and well-appointed. The restaurant, candle-lit, was ideal for relaxing and eating. the food was of good quality and the breakfasts, cooked to order, was really first class. It is also often the small things that show the standard of the hotel and we found the provision of de-icer at the entrance in case the windscreens were frosted an excellent touch. The hotel is close to Sherborne and Yeovil and set in a very small village. The weather was a bit cold to explore outside but that is a treat to be saved up for our next visit!

We have just returned from our 2nd weekend break at The Grange and have had another fantastic time. The entire staff are excellent and really go out of their way to ensure you have a good time. We are both Vegetarian and ate the first night in the restaurant which was really lovely food, however , the menu did not change for night 2 so we did not eat in the restaurant again as there was only 1 vege option. If I had a grumble that would be it as it is nicer if we could have ordered a different meal each rather than have the exact same dinner and starter ...
We were in room 6 this time which was smaller than our last room and a bit more old fashioned , but was spotlessly clean , so can't grumble for the price we paid really. We will return again I am sure as when the special offers are available it cannot be matched really anywhere close by.
Thanks to all of the staff for a memorable stay ... Rose & Lee Parke

We just spent the weekend here and had a great time. The Staff were great and very helpful. We ate twice in the restaurant and both meals were excellent. Breakfast was also very good. Overall had a great stay and would come back.

We have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing break at this gorgeous Hotel. We were delighted with our large and extremely clean room, which overlooked the garden and had a private patio. Unfortunately being February we were unable to use this but still appreciated the view. We ate dinner at the Hotel on our first night and would highly recommend the restaurant to any future visitors who enjoy fine dining. The breakfasts were equally as good, served with locally sourced ingredients of a high standard. If you are looking for a Hotel in a quiet but attractive setting, with first class service and excelllent food then look no further than 'The Grange'. Thank you to all the warm, friendly and helpful staff, keep up the good work!

It is rare to find a hotel where everyone makes it their business to ensure your stay is memorable for all the right reasons. From the moment we arrived we realised we were in for a treat, especially Ken’s quirky humour and his knowledge of the local brewery.
The rooms are spotless, very well furnished, heated and comfortable. The bar and lounge areas are welcoming with an abundance of information to help you decide on sightseeing within the area. Any questions regarding attractions and areas of interest are answered knowledgably.
The evening restaurant menu is as good as anything I’ve come across and the quality of the food is a real delight to the palate. Breakfasts are also a treat with homemade granola, probably the best I’ve ever tasted.
I’ve stayed in a number of Best Western hotels over the years and I’m confident that this is the most enjoyable, comfortable and homely.
Jon, Jenny and their team are wonderful hosts and we look forward to visiting again later in the year.

This is a lovely hotel situated in a pretty village just outside Sherborne. The family owners could not have been more welcoming and friendly - nothing was too much trouble and our every request was dealt with in a warm and efficient manner. Our room was very comfortable, stylishly decorated and spotless and it was a pleasure to find beds made and the room cleaned when we returned from breakfast. The food was absolutely scrumptious and this, together with the roaring log fire and deep, comfy sofas made for a truly relaxing stay. If we have a tiny criticism is would be that the beautifully appointed restaurant was a little chilly due to the many windows but it was a particularly freezing weekend. We are sure that at other times of the year it is wonderful with the view over the garden. We can thoroughly recommend The Grange and hope that this visit will not be our last.
