“Perfect Party!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

I needed to find a great venue to enjoy a joint 60th birthday party with 9 of my friends from schooldays! The time spent on researching the perfect place was well rewarded. The Grange at Oborne was indeed the perfect place for us. With 12 in our party, we were looked after by attentive, professional staff who were tirelessly good humoured and nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms bright, well decorated and spotlessly clean. Beds were comfy & we all slept well in this lovely peaceful building. The 3 course dinner was an absolute delight - everything cooked to perfection & arriving at the table at the same time (not always so with bigger groups in other places). The chef provided a magnificent birthday cake complete with firework! & happily provided a dozen well wrapped slices for us to take home because we simply didn't have any more room for cake on the night! The breakfast was equally delicious - well cooked and well served. I'd thoroughly recommend The Grange.

Room Tip: Room 12 is fantastic. - ample space - french doors opening onto a delightful garden - comfy sofa...

We stayed just one night on a Travelzoo voucher but wished that we had stayed longer. This is a exellent country hotel in a beautiful rural part of Dorset. The dinner alone was a gastronomic delight.

We arrived here for a one night stay quite late in the evening. We chatted to the manager (owner?) whilst we were checking in and said we had some work to catch up on in the evening but were looking forward to a relaxing morning in the town. He explained that the internet in the hotel wasn't working due to an but it should be fixed overnight and would we prefer to book in elsewhere. We chose not to and, internet problems notwithstanding, it was a wise choice.
We had a lovely room opening on to the garden and breakfast in the morning was delicious, very well presented and just the right sized portions. Hopefully next time we visit the internet will be working.

We stayed for two nights whilst attending a wedding nearby. We had dinner one night which was excellent, and the breakfasts on both days were basic, but well done. The hotel itself is lovely, a proper country house hotel. We stayed in Room 4 which had a stunning four poster bed and a beautiful balcony overlooking the garden. The real gem about this hotel though it clearly the staff - they were attentive, personable and could not do enough for you. Excellent value for money and whilst we only found the hotel as it was local to the wedding, we are already planning to come back for a weekend stay.

Stayed on a one night DBB deal. Room clean and comfortable. This hotel drives its quality on exemplary customer service and fine food. The menu offered included home-cured gravadlax (excellent) and whole roast grouse (excellent). All round fine quality and remarkable value, even at the Grange's normal rates. They deserve their accolades and all the support they get.

We booked this wonderful hotel to celebrate my parents Diamond Wedding Anniversary for family and friends over a weekend. The hotel provided a meal for 27 of us all seated on one long table in the well appointed Wessex room and a buffet for 45 people on the following day in the Regent room. The food was outstanding and beautifully presented. Service was exceptional. A big thank you to all at The Grange for making our family party such a fabulous success.

We used this hotel as a stop off on the way to visit relatives in somerset, using a travel zoo offer and what a great offer it turned out to be! from arrival to departure we were very well looked after and would highly recommend to others. The room, the food and the service was very good and we will certainly return when visiting the area.
