“HORRIBLE stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2008

This hotel was just plain scary!! The 1st floor is all "public housing" with shady characters leering out the windows and hanging out in the hallways. We had a group of rooms due to a local event and regret booking here. All of our rooms had NO a/c. It pumped out air...but warm. The hallways are extremely hot and dim lit. The lounge had no a/c either so we left and didn't eat at the Grill. Toilet didn't flush & was stained. Table was broken. Shower flipped to ice cold to hot-hot-hot without warning. Only one working ice machine! There's no where in the area close to eat. Rolls of carpet in the parking lot. I could go on and on. PLEASE do NOT stay here.

All though an older Motel it was very clean and decorated much better then most other Days Inn. The staff was so nice and helpful with all our needs. The rooms were very quiet and the heater was not at all noisy, best 2 nights sleep I have gotten staying in any motels. The rooms are very large and looks just like the photos you see at the web site.
The on site restaurant was Fabulous, we liked the food so much that we didn’t eat anywhere else in our 2 day stay. Our friends stayed at the same motel and agreed we would eat all our meals there.
The owners of the restaurant made us feel like royalty, the food was outstanding, like no other Hotel we have ever stayed in the years of our travels.
Our hats off to The Miami Street Grille’.
My husband and I will stay again at this Days Inn in our future travels.

  • Liked — The large room, staff and resturant food and right off 75 Interstate.
  • Disliked — Might be the walk in Hotel it's larger then most, but our room was at far end of hotel. I didn't complain.

My name is Brianna Check. I’m a nurse from Erie, Pa. My husband teaches in Erie. We have two beautiful children whom we love traveling to different places along with our extended families. Over the weekend, we met some of our family in Toledo, Ohio to go to the zoo.
I have some major complaints/concerns with our recent stay at the Days Inn at 1800 Miami Street in Toledo Ohio. I made a reservation over the phone on 3/13 to stay on 3/15. I couldn’t hear the person on the other end of phone the entire time. I had to ask for the rate I was getting and the confirmation number. Then to find out, the room ended up being reserved for 3/16 instead of 3/15. The hotel looked nothing like it does online. Its neon green!! The staff is very unprofessional. The front desk clerk complained the entire check in and out process about other staff members and everything else that is going on. By 5 pm when we were checking in, half of the rooms still weren’t cleaned. The clerk had to radio housekeeping to see if our room was clean before she sent us up to it. She had already sent several guests up to dirty rooms earlier in the day. Check out time is 11 am and check in is 2 pm. The room phone was so sticky; most of the buttons wouldn’t work. Most of the TV channels weren’t working. The “free” Wi-Fi they advertised wasn’t working. We called the front desk to get directions to the Spaghetti Warehouse that was mentioned on the website as being 2 miles from the hotel only to be told it was really far away. We were told it was so far away “it’s almost in Michigan”. She didn’t offer any other restaurant suggestion. We found the Spaghetti Warehouse exactly 2.6 miles away from the hotel. The reason we booked this hotel was for the indoor Olympic sized pool that was so cold the kids could only stay in for a half hour. The hot tub was filled with wood chips!!?? The workout room consisted of 4 machines in a room the size of a bathroom. The snack machines were empty. The showers kept switching for scalding hot to freezing cold every 30 seconds. But the icing on the cake happened when we returned from dinner at 9 pm. When we returned to our room, there was a message on our phone to call the front desk. We were then informed that the entire floor our room was on was rented out to an “adult party”. The front desk clerk stated she didn’t feel it was safe or right that we stay on that floor with our children due to the drinking and noise level that was going to be going on that night. (The sign behind the desk clearly stated partying in the rooms was prohibited!!) She needed me to come down so she could change rooms and she would be giving us a discount for the inconvience. The only suite she had available for us was a smoking suite on the third floor. The first discount was $10 off!!!! What an insult!! Then she offered $25 off which was reluctantly accepted. According to her the manager was going to yell at her for giving me that price. So we are now moving our stuff to another room at 9:30 pm only to find this room in worse shape than our original room. The door looked like it had been broken into several times before. The chairs all had stains on them. The counters were all beat up. And it smelled like smoke. The noise level was worse on the first and third floors than it was on the party floor. The continental breakfast the next morning was interesting. None of the tables were level enough to eat a bowl of cereal without spilling it. There was only on person in the kitchen. She was handling the food with bare hands and no hair net. Things weren’t restocked without asking for them. When you asked for butter you only go one and it was never restocked. If you didn’t have a ticket for the breakfast, they charged you $7!!!! The ticket collecting system was so unorganized; she didn’t remember who she collected tickets from. At check out, the same front desk clerk was working. Yet again another unprofessional statement, she claims she was yelled at by the manager for giving me the “discounted price” on the room. If this is the type of hotel Days Inn awards franchises too, neither we nor our families stay in another Days Inn.

The hotel has been completely renovated, and BOY do we see the difference. The staff said that 80% of the beds have been replaced, new doors, new carpet, new drapes, and what a difference this hotel was from when we stayed there in the spring! Hats off to you, guys! This hotel is next to my grandmothers house, and with the kids, her house at her advanced age is out of the question. The HUGE pool was a great distraction for the kids.

It was 1130pm and we were getting tired of driving (on our way to Cleveland) so we decided to stop here for the night - saw the Days Inn sign from the highway.

Granted the hotel is probably old - and I don't mind staying in old places. This one though was old and dirty. There is a difference.

It was so hot in our room. We had the thermostat on the coldest setting and the fan on high (which was super loud) and we were still hot. We couldn't get the room to cool down. The toliet wouldn't flush correctly. The water didn't drain very well in the shower and the shower wasn't all that clean either. There wasn't a coffee pot - there was a coffee maker and coffee but no pot.

We only stayed in this room for 7 hours (just to sleep) and it was 7 hours too many. I will never stay in this hotel again!

We stayed here as part of a sports group. When we arrived, the doors were off most of the rooms, and were being placed back on hinges as we were checking in. We were told the hotel was undergoing a remodeling, but we only saw two people working at the hotel the whole time we were there (to give them credit, both employees were very polite and tried to be helpful). The door frame to our room appeared as if someone had tried to break in. There was no security for doors from the parking lot to the hotel, the door closest to our room had a room key lock, but it was broken, visibly tampered with, and the doors didn't lock at all. We looked through the yellow pages to find a nearby restaurant, and discovered that someone had torn out the entire “hotels” section. A teammate had a room with an upended box in their room and packing material strewn all over the floor. When they called the front desk, someone stopped by with a vacuum and graciously left the vacuum for the family so they could vacuum the floor themselves. Oh, and also, the door on the room next to theirs had been kicked in, and was laying half in/half out of the frame, splintered. For some reason, this door was not taken off of its hinges like all of the rest of the doors in the hotel when we got there.

Another teammate found a condom in the phone book, and was delivered a rollaway bed with stained sheets, and cigarette burns.

These are only the highlight stories. I will leave out the numerous toilets not working, faucets with the all night slow drip, kids running up and down the hall, and cars reving for no reason outside the window stories.

There was an indoor pool that looked to be recently remodeled and cleaned, but the water was probably about 50 degrees, and much too cold to swim in.

Honestly, if we were not part of a big group who had staggered arrival times, I am sure we would have checked out upon seeing the condition of the hotel.

We made reservations at this hotel, and have never complained about a hotel in my life, until now. We got there and the tub was filthy, the fitted sheet no longer had elastic on it, so made it hard to stay on the bed. The heater in the room was either full blast or blew cold air. On our first night there starting at 9:30 PM, there was yelling down the hallway, running down the hallway, and so on. We called the front desk and it stopped for a short while, then starting again at 12:30am of which we again called the front desk when the clerk said when we called earlier they didn't find any problems, so this time it continued until 2:30 am when it finially stopped. They have an onsite bar and when they open the door to it, the blaring music can be heard in our room. So a very short sleep that night. On the second night my 4 year old daughter wanted some cold ice water, so we went out to find ice, we went to the first floor where an out of order sign appeared, telling us to use the ice machine on the second floor by the pool, so we walked down to the second floor and found a big dirty spot on the wall of where the ice machine used to be, so we went up to the third floor to find one there. There is no ice machine on the third floor, so as we are walking back down the long hallway the fire alarm went off closing all of the hallway doors, and scaring my daughter. We finally got back to our room, and had to explain to my daughter that she was safe, and no fire was going to burn her. Upon our walk through each of these floors we smelt the familar smell of marijuana coming from three rooms, one on each floor. Do yourself a favor, do not stop here.
