Arrived at this Hampton Inn and entered the building. The car port and the surrounding landscape were very nicely done, well maintained and clean. This hotel sits in a very good location in relation to the Ohio Turnpike and I-480. I was greeted by a very friendly desk clerk and check in was quick and efficient.
The lobby and adjacent breakfast area were very tastefully decorated and of large size with high ceilings. The color combination was very soothing and the accompanying textures complimenting. The hotel provides a large urn of fresh, ice cold water and the coffee bar also operates 24 hours a day. They also had a Manager’s Reception which included free light appetizers and free drinks.
I arrived at my room and began my inspection; the room was of average size, clean and neat and remarkable in its colors and textures. The room had a muted accent wall and the color palate was warm and inviting. The window covering was a cloth blind not just curtains which really black out the room from outdoor light, a nice touch. The television was 32” flat screen LCD but had a poor channel selection. The bed duvet was freshly laundered and the bed sheets were white, clean and crisp. Inspection of the bathroom revealed clean, neat and organized with plenty of clean white towels and an average selection of amenities. The shower was clean, had great pressure and the hot water was plentiful.
The bed was comfortable and I had no issues with sleep. The hotel itself was sold out and I heard no noise from the exterior or the corridors. The HVAC quickly and consistently cooled the room but was not controlled by a wall thermostat. It was a little bit louder than I would have liked but in all fairness I am a very light sleeper.
The desk/work area was of average size and the desk chair was comfortable. The wireless internet was acceptable.
The pool was interior, large and very comfortable. The workout area was larger than most and provided high quality equipment. The breakfast is what you would expect from this chain.
There were 2 minor issues that kept me from rating this hotel as excellent:
1. The channel selection was poor for a hotel of this quality. I would have expected many more cable channels.
2. The room did not have a refrigerator. During long stays during business travel I like to have some food and drinks on hand. Again, for this quality of a hotel I would expect this to be standard.
The issues I had would not keep me from recommending or staying at this location again.
This hotel sits among many chain restaurant and sole-proprietorship locations. A Ruby Tuesday is within walking distance and the remaining choices are with-in a short drive.
Would I return, Yes, would I recommended, Yes. This hotel met all of my expectations for a Hampton Inn property, clean, quiet and comfortable. $107.10 room + $7.23 state tax + $6.43 lodging tax, totaled $120.76 for July, 2011. A very competitive rate for the area.
