We chose the BW Cedar Point for its proximity to the park and price and onsite restaurant. The travel time to the park entrance ended up being about 7 minutes which was perfect as I had to go back and pick up the kids at 10:00 (park Closing).

Our two double rooms (three of them) were clean and comfortable and well in line with normal rates for the area in July. We paid $98 with the AAA discount. The Perkins Restaurant on site turned out to be better than expected for both dinner and breakfast. Service is the restaurant was outstanding for both meals. Kids enjoyed a late nite swim in the pool which was convieniently open until midnite. I used the wireless Hi-speed internet in the lobby area which was free and connected easily. The hotel had plenty of parking and we were able to park right outside the door to our part of the property. We made our reservation through the Best Western website but I did notice that the hotel had several room or suite options including a 4 room suite with two King rooms. This option didn't show up on the BW site but might be a good idea for a couple of families or a large group.

The hotel is far from new so if that is part of your criteria you may be disappointed. All in all the BW Cedar Point met our needs perfectly and I would stay there again when visiting Cedar point.

One note about Cedar Point. It was a very hot 95 degree Sunday in July. A bit uncomfortable but the combination of Sunday and the heat helped reduce the crowds. Wait times for Millenium and Dragster were no more that 25 minutes each.

CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!!
How much would you pay to be robbed? What would you do if you caught a maid in your room standing over your wallet with its contents removed? Would you expect her employment to be terminated? Would you expect the hotel to call the police?
Don’t expect it at this hotel. This is exactly what happened to us and this maid is still employed. She said she was going to clean our room (there was no cleaning cart outside our door and from my experience, maids always leave the door OPEN when they clean the room). She said she thought we checked out, even though proper procedure is to clean rooms after checked out has been confirmed via a computer. She also had to step OVER our luggage and shoes to get to the area where she and my wallet were found. She went into my purse, removed my wallet, and took out the money and credit card. This is when the burglary was interrupted. The hotel never offered assistance when I wanted to call the police...although to be fair they pointed to a nearby phone for me to call them. They thought it best to handle internally and not get the police involved. I am cautioned to add she is only an ALLEGED thief because she did not confess and she was not physically holding any of my personal belongings when she was caught. I strongly caution anyone considering staying at this hotel. From what the Sandusky police tell me theft in hotel rooms is a prevalent problem in any resort community but for the hotel to take no action and to sweep it under the rug as if it never happened is incorrigible. I would like to add that the hotel never offered any type of restitution. I was still charged full price for the stay and the maid is still happily going through other people’s wallets….ALLEGDLY!!!

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and for the price, it was pretty nice. The rooms for the most part were clean. My only complaint was that the floors needed swept. The beds were nice and clean and the bathrooms were fairly clean as well. I would recommend it for an overnight stay if you are going to Cedar Point as it is only 5 minutes from the park.

As an employee of a Best Western in another location, I must say that I am truly ashamed to share a name with this hotel!
From the second we checked in, it was awful. The front desk woman was not only rude to me, she took a time out from me to yell at a staff member and continued to do so after he left. The room itself was a suite. The wallpaper was peeling off, the remote had scotch tape keeping the battery in, and amongst plenty of other things ... it stunk.
the bathrooms were not clean, and no shampoo's or conditioners were offered.
the hotel is fairly old and it definatly shows.
I suggest a newer hotel (even a budjet minded hotel) that would at least appear clean from the outside.
I will say though that the location was good and there is a restaraunt on site, but no other features or cedar point tips or coupons.
please do not let this detear you from other Best Western locations.

We only stayed one night, but everything about our stay was really nice.

The staff was pleasant, they happily supplied a toothbrush when I realized (at about 1 a.m. no less) that I'd forgotten mine, the Friendly's restaurant attached to the place was fine, the room was comfortable (won't blow your mind, but it was clean and the beds were nice), and we were about as close to the Cedar Point entrance as you can get without staying in the park's property.

I imagine during the peak of the summer, this place might have been more crowded and crazier, but if you're looking for a fine motel in a great location at a decent price--not a bad way to go. It was a step up from the really discount places but didn't cost a fortune.
