When I read these reviews sometimes I think people are being overly harsh and maybe they are just miserable people, but I can tell you I have NEVER felt so compelled to write one of these. I never want another family to have to sleep in a place like this.

When we arrived our room was "wet". The door had condensation all over it, the ceilings were moldy, the comforter and rug were wet too. (like there was a mini flood and instead of calling someone to fix it they just were like... whatever) So we switched rooms. This one appeared to be fine until closer inspection. There was pubic hair in the ice bucket, in the shower and on the bathroom floor. The comforter had blood stains on it. This ceiling was also moldy, just not as bad as the first one. There was food on the floor and on the shelf of the nightstand. You could tell they do not vacuum the edges of the carpet or the edges by the bed. (if they do - not very often) We stayed at this "resort" in July 2006 and found a jellybean in one of the closets. GROSS. The housekeeper knocked on our door at 9:00 AM. When I ask why she was knocking she said to see if we had checked out yet. I said isn't check out at 11:00am? Yes but we still need to check. MY FAMILY WAS SLEEPING! We had been out late the night before and had a long drive ahead of us. Then I left my cell phone behind by mistake. I called the hotel a 1/2 hour after leaving to ask them to go and get it and then call me back so I could give them a mailing address. No one ever called and I have left several messages. Finally I got frustrated and called the manager of the hotel, (the front desk would not give me her name so I had to call another resort to get that) - GUESS WHAT? no return call from her either. So I filed a police report and plan on calling the BBB and the health dept. This "resort" is not a sanitary place to stay. My daughter and I slept fully clothed! I wish I had read these reviews BEFORE I booked it. I tried to change hotels but every other hotel was booked.

We just returned from a 2 night stay at BREAKERS EXPRESS in SANDUSKY OHIO. We absolutely loved the hotel. I'VE read some of the other reviews and please don't base your decision on them. BREAKERS EXPRESS is not beachfront or within walking distance of Cedar Point. It is very close to the park and within a short driving distance. The hotel staff was pleasant, professional and friendly . They were happy to answer any and all questions that we had upon arrival. We arrived mid-day after a 7 1/2 hour drive and were extremey tired. The front desk advised us that our room was already clean and available for check in. They allowed us to check in approx. 5 hours early. The hotel was clean, secure and extremely quiet. While out at the park housekeeping made our beds, emptied our trash and provided us with more clean towels. On your next vacation spend a little extra and choose BREAKERS EXPRESS.

Several members of my family stayed at Breakers Express in June. We had 4 rooms in a row and stayed for 4 days. ALL of us found that housekeeping was poor...they either did not completely clean our rooms every day, or left something out. They only partially cleaned (didn't clean bathroom but only made the beds; didn't vaccuum; one room didn't have supplies on the day of check-in; my room wasn't even cleaned at all on one day...) I didn't have too high expectations given the price...but housekeeping is something that a paying guest should expect!

Unfortunately, this hotel is the one my daughter chose to lose her "best friend" (stuffed toy). 4 calls to housekeeping yielded no return phone calls.

The lobby and exterior of the hotel were fine. Didn't visit the pool area. Our only gripe was the cleaning and unresponsive housekeeping manager.

We stayed here to get the early entry and the Cedar Point package. The location was convenient and we certainly got our money's worth with the Cedar Point ticket/discount package. The hotel was okay. Our major complaint was the housekeeping which seemed to be mainly teenage boys. We started out well with a decent check-in and the package was delivered without any issues. The next day however when we returned to our room at 4pm after a day at the water park, we had no towels. We notified housekeeping and went to Cedar Point for the evening. Upon return at 10:30pm, still no towels. We called, three or four times, and were assured the towels were on the way. I finally went to the front desk and asked for the towels so I could take them up and was told that they could not give me towels (housekeepings job) but would not direct me to the housekeeping office. I was totally teed off by then. Luckily, one of the housekeeping workers came up to the front desk and went with me to get the towels right then. It took us over 45 minutes (after 11pm) before we got our towels. That left a bad taste in our mouth. The package came with a free breakfast, which turned out to be a single donut or muffin and a glass of juice. The tea/coffee is complementary for everyone. Without the towel incident, I would rate it higher but couldn't believe the run around we got from the staff.

Breakers Express is a very convenient hotel located close to The Cedar Point Park. There is no hotel transportation and at the time of review(7-2006) parking at the park is $9. We have stayed in this hotel every July for about the past 3 years. We love that it has queen size beds vs. double beds. The room has a small table with 2 chairs, a coffee maker and soap & shampoo/conditioner in a cute shell in the bathroom. The towels are thin. Given that an average stay by most people is 2 nights, this hotel has a high turnover rate of guests, so the rooms probably need updating(furniture) with the abuse that it gets. This hotel has a pool and whirlpool located outdoors staffed by a lifeguard. The pool was a little chilly but given the temperature outside with the humidity it was fine. Discount park tickets are available at the front desk. The Starlight tickets can only be purchased at the park. During the summer months Cedar Point Resorts require a deposit. So just know this prior to going. A $50. fee is charged to cancel prior to 72 hrs upon arrival. If you cancel less than 72 hrs your deposit will be forfeited. Check in time is 4pm and check out is at 11am. There is free parking on the hotel grounds. The building is accessible by hotel room key only. There is a MC Donalds really close by for breakfast. We have always utilized this option and it works really well. The hotel is 3 floors. There are pretty fast elevators to access each floor. There is a pay washer & dryer on the first floor on your way out to the pool. The only thing I noticed was that the hallways could have used a little more vacuuming and or picking up. Our room was clean and I did not notice any of the negative things I have seen in the other reviews with reguard to the room.

  • Liked — Location & internet access for free in lobby.
  • Disliked — Hallways not as clean as they should be
  • Tips/Secrets: — Eat breakfast at Mc Donalds or Perkins down at the Best Western
