“Noisy Magiquest!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

Waterpark is clean, overpowering smell of chlorine, stung my eyes and gave me a headache - luckily the little shop attached has painkillers and visine for sale! Room was very nice, bed was comfortable. Restaurant "kids eat free" is a scam - you have to buy a WAY overpriced "entree" (can't be a sandwich) or you have to pay eight bucks for the kids meal. None of this is out of line for a theme waterpark. However, they have this Magiquest thing in the park - if you have two kids you better be prepared to drop about fifty bucks minimum for this, because it is a hotel-wide game on every floor and every kid is clogging up the elevators and running through the halls trying to finish this game. My son's "wand" broke THREE times in twelve hours, and he couldn't finish the final thing because "the sensors are too close together". The pieces to the game line the walls of every floor - forget about sitting somewhere quiet, it ain't happening. The kids had a great time, but for a $250 price tag, only to have the rest of my wallet grabbed at for a one night stay? Sorry - I'd rather get my own pool.

The hotel is CLEAN, and quite the experience. As I think the water park is on the smaller side, it's geared towards children, and a nice weekend winter getaway! The only thing I would change is the location. Sandusky seems a bit lackluster and it smells kind of questionable outside... at least in the immediate area of GWL. However, still rating this place an A+

This was our first time here and we were very impressed! Service was great, the room was fantastic and the activities and water park was incredible. Our kids are small, not quite water safe, and they still loved it. The water was very warm and the entire hotel was very clean. Having been a lifeguard myself many years ago, the lifeguards here were very good and extremely observant. There are a lot of rules for the pools, but that is to be expected for such a large operation that caters to so many people.

The only thing lacking would be complimentary breakfast and quality beds. There are two restaurants in the lodge but they are overpriced for what you actually get. I'd recommend going out for your food since there are enough choices around in Sandusky. And our beds were not very comfortable, which isn't too big of an issue for the little ones.

We look forward to returning on an annual basis!

Bought a Groupon deal, stayed Thursday and Friday night. This is a great place for younger kids.

Kids with 44" height can ride all the rides, with couple of fast rides needing adult companion. Kids under 44" is excluded from just 2 rides. If the kids are feeling cold after a while, they can go to the Hot-Tubs with parent!

Have food from the Snack Bar. All were terrible, except the Pizza which was decent.
If you want American sweet & sour food, Jo Wok is only 6 minutes drive away and has many excellent reviews, though it's non-authentic Thai.

Note that the 1st floor (same level as the waterpark) has a few hotel offices and conference rooms.

You can start enjoying the waterpark starting at 1pm on the day of arrival, and play the whole day on your departure. Just that you can only check-in at 4pm and check out before 11am.

Room Tip: 1st floor is home to many hotel offices and conference rooms.

Just got back from another 1 night stay at Great Wolf Lodge/ Sandusky. We had a wonderful time with 3 small children. A fun surprise was when the kids were in their pajamas waiting for the Clocktower show. Santa was there from 6-8, so I took their picture in their pajamas with Santa...CUTE. Keep this in mind if going soon!

Great lunch today at Klondike Cafe. Didn't have to change clothes to eat while swimming, so that worked out well. I would definitely recommend that! Rooms are just so nice, large and clean, we really love this place. Your 2-12 year olds will really love it here......families EVERYWHERE.

Room Tip: Picture with Santa in jammies before clocktower show at 8:00p!

We stayed in the Wolf Den suite during Snowland. Our 2 year old and 10 year old both had a blast! The girls took over their little spot and had so much fun playing in the room. The beds were very comfortable and had new bedding.

We were able to check in at 1:00, went up to the room to change, and headed straight to the waterpark. The 10 year old and dad took off for the slides while the 2 year old and I hung out in the toddler area. Before I knew it, she wanted to try out the bigger slides. I was worried that we would get bored since she's so tiny, but we were able to do everything but the big slides. We decided to have dinner off property, came back, swam some more, changed, and headed down for story time. The 10 year old loved it, while the 2 year old could not care less.

We had breakfast at the lodge the next morning, and it was not worth it. The girls were free, but there was no way we at $25 worth of food. We also paid for a late check out but would not do that again. By 11:00, we were exhausted and just wanted to go home. It was a good exhaustion, but exhaustion none the less:)

It was a great experience, and we can't wait to go back!

We stayed for two nights and purchased the cabin suite for our girls. They loved having their own room and so did we. The lodge is small and quaint. It is smaller than the other waterpark close by but that makes it a bit homier. Two days was a perfect stay as towards the end we were running out of stuff to do and had spent most of our time in the waterpark. The restaurant food is expensive and nothing to write home about. They really need to invest in better plastic ware as it was very flimsy. My 7 and 4 old loved the show and the fake snow. I would say this lodge is better for kids 8 and under...
