I took my 10 year old son to Cedar Point yesterday, Monday, as he just finished school last Thursday. We could not have ordered better weather. The skies were blue, the water was calm, and the temps were in the 80's.
We are Platinum season pass holders for a second year after moving to OH from IL a year and a half ago. We obtained our season passes online from Kings Island then processed them there as required. Last year we had to stop at Guest Services at Cedar Point every time we went to Cedar Point to obtain a stamp, then we proceeded to the gates. This year they have changed their policy, and we were able to proceed immediately to the gate.
I believe there may have still been schools in session in the northern parts of OH, and in MI. The park was not as crazy busy as it can be in the middle of the summer. Because we have the Platinum season passes, we were able to enter the park at 9:00 a.m. We headed first to Raptor, then Millennium, and finally Maverick. We were able to ride all of these generally populated coasters before 10:00 a.m. The only long wait we had all day was for Top Thrill Dragster. There was a sign posted that stated it would be a 1 hour wait, and that is exactly what we waited. We have waited longer for this coaster in the past. During the coarse of the day we rode everything we wanted with most less than 15 minutes in queue. The wait times posted at the rides were accurate within a few minutes.
We took a walk along the beach, and on the beach walkway. We went to Soak City for the first time and were amazed at the quietness of the place. There were plenty of lounge chairs available. The lines were short or non existent on all of the slides. There is plenty for people of all ages to do. There are areas for toddlers, young children, tweens, teens and adults. There is even a swim up bar.
Everyone at the gates were friendly and extremely helpful. An item worth mentioning is the use of a picnic area for bringing in your own coolers. I would not have known this last year if someone had not mentioned it in this forum. This area precedes the entry gates to the park. Any size cooler may be brought in to the pavilion.
Because this was a day trip, I am unable to comment on the accommodations at Cedar Point. We will be staying overnight at the end of the summer at Hotel Breakers, and will try to remember to provide a trip report then.
