“Great hotel, horrible service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013 via mobile

My family and I stayed for 3 nights. It is a great hotel and the location is perfect. It was clean....the rooms are nice, but the bathrooms are a little on the small side. The main problem I had was the negligence of the front desk and billing staff. My card was double charged twice for the room. The first charge was refunded. The second charge was not, however I am disputing that charge with my bank in order to get refunded. This means that my card had over a $700 hold on it while I was on vacation. ...money I could have used to buy things. They also fail to tell you that the phone in the room isn't free....they charge you $0.75 for each call, even to call the front desk. I informed the manager that my card was double-charged the second time, & was told they didn't show it, but it was verified by my bank...seems kind of shady on their end. Still had a blast at cedar point though in spite of everything....

Even though the Hotel Breakers is historical, this is the cleanest hotel I've been in. The staff is super friendly and helpful, from the bellman to the front desk agents to the housekeepers. The hotel and rooms are outdated but it had everything you need. The rooms were super clean and the beds were comfortable, the view was amazing...having the roller coasters that you had to face the next morning teasing you all night. I wish the television would've been bigger and up to date and the toilet paper/tissues were not of quality. We were right by the elevator but never heard any noise there or in the hallway.

We purchased the package online that included the room and early admission to Cedar Point. The next morning, we walked right down the sidewalk along side the beach (amazing view) and there was one of the gates into the park. It was awesomely convenient and affordable.

We were a little disappointed that the old time ice cream parlor no longer served hand-dipped ice cream, kind of defeated the purpose of "old time".

Overall, I loved this trip and would definitely stay at the Hotel Breakers again!

Room Tip: We stayed in the tower which was probably the newest part of the property.

On this trip we stayed at Breakers East, which is a newer portion of the hotel along with the tower rooms. We had a suite with a total of five people. Let's face it, you come to Cedar Point to ride the rides, not hang out in the hotel room. The room was clean and comfortable, but is not a luxury resort. We've stayed on property literally dozens of times and we always have a wonderful time at Cedar Point. The best bonus is that all smoking in the hotels is now banned. THANK YOU!! It's just so great to walk in and out of the park and be on site. We have stayed off site before, but always return to Breakers.

Room Tip: Breakers East and Towers have newer rooms. The old part of the hotel is a shorter walk to the park...

If you are looking for the fast track into the park this is the property to stay at. Not only does it have an amazing location, but also has multiple pools, restaurants, and gift shops. Staying here not only allows easy quick access into and out of the park, but having all the bars (esp TGIF) it provides a really unique environment to socialize with complete strangers after the park closes. The hotel comprises of 3 different sections. 2 of which are somewhat new (East and Towers) and 1 that is from 1925 I believe. (Bonaire Section) Clearly the older section has been updated; however, it is still very old and outdated for the prices they charge. That said, paying very expensive prices comes with the territory if you plan on staying INSIDE of Cedar Point. Many other benefits include bringing your own cooler stocked with booze, food, etc. and having the ability to not have to pay crazy prices for that stuff in the park because you can catch one of the numerous shuttles to get back to the hotel relatively quick. Also you get discounted tickets to the park as well as early access which allows you to ride the specific rides for that specific day an hour early before the general public. Personally, I prefer the Tower section because even with a "parking lot" view you still have a very good view of the park itself. I would also ask when making the reservation to get a room on the highest floor possible. Once again, you cannot put a price on the location of this property as to its proximity to the park itself. If you are expecting the Ritz (which the prices will reflect) don't. This is not meant to be an upscale Four Seasons, but more of an option which provides the best possible location when going to Cedar Point.

Room Tip: Get a room in the Tower section and request the highest floor possible.

We chose to stay on property one night to take advantage of the early entry and discounted ticket offers for a one night stay. We were in the Bon Airre section (old section). The room was definitely old, tiny, and dated but it was clean and just what we needed. The location can't be beat and is just fine for a night or two!

Room Tip: Bon Airre section was just fine if you only need a place to sleep but I wouldnt want to spend a week...

If you are traveling with children this is a nice option. We stayed with a 6 yr old and after a long day at the park it was great to take a short walk and be able to shower, eat and rest. Although this hotel was convenient it was mediocre at best. The rooms are very basic! It needs an update. I feel it is a bit over priced. I would ONLY recommend for the convenience factor alone. I would give it 2.5⭐
