“Just AWFUL!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2012

A group of friends and I decided to stay at the hotel out of convenience......well, that's about it! This hotel is outdated and in need of some serious TLC. It smells of chlorine and mold and there is NOTHING between those walls. We had the pleasure of staying during school trip week I guess, because all we saw were teenagers running around the hallways, laughing and shouting way too loud, or simply taking over entire hallways to sit down and chat while sharing a pizza, with complete disregard for other guests, all this with absolute NO interferance from any hotel security by the way. My favorite however is the "helpful" people at the front desk......NOT!!! I asked the young girl at the desk TWICE about where we could have breakfast, was it included, any kind of direction and or information about breakfast, in order for us to get organized for the next day. All I got was a BLANK stare, and absolutely nothing else, she just changed the subject. I stood there staring at her, expecting some answer.....and NOTHING! But, the icing on the cake.....we get to the room after dinner, get ready for bed, open the bed.....STAINS on the sheets. Both beds had stains, and big ones, the sheets were also all wrinkled, as if they were slept on the night before and didnt even bother to change in new ones. We ended up sleeping over the covers, didnt even bother calling the front desk. The showers are also awful, no pressure and hot water isn't as hot as it could be. In conclusion, DONT STAY HERE!

Room Tip: Dont stay here!

While it is true that the Hotel is very old and certain features such as thin walls maybe can not be helped; I do think that the way that the hotel does present itself to the consumer matters. This often begins with something that hotels should be very much known for; customer service. My experience with the Breakers Hotel's Front Desk Customer Service was dismal at best when dealing with a disruptive room that was having a bit too much fun until 3:45 AM. I tried my best to sleep through it but could not and did talk to the front desk who made me feel like the guilty party for having them have to do anything about it. My concern was that maybe if these people were staying an extra day they may want to put like minded people next to them rather than someone who needed rest.

The positives about this hotel as mentioned by others are the following:
* one hour early to the parks (Note:Not all rides are open one hour early - just three or four; check the board in the lobby for which ones)
* location to Cedar Point Amusement Park (just walk through the resort entance gateway and you are in the park)

This hotel is terrible. I booked a 3-night stay with one King size bed for my wife and I along with 2 days of Cedar Point tickets (room 2310). The hotel itself is simply awful. It smells of dank water damage like a $1 movie theater. The rooms have zero amenities such as refrigerator and microwave. Our bed was even made with a flat sheet instead of a fitted sheet one night so any slight movement pulled the sheet off.
Pros: The hour-early entrance is great. The beach right out the back door is also nice. Our room also had a beach view which was a pleasant surprise.
We visited the beach a few times, but they do not keep it very clean as it was littered with dead fish.
Overall I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. My suggestion is to book a room off-site and put the money towards a Fast Lane pass. There is also nothing stopping you from enjoying the beach without staying at the hotel. You can access the beach from the park or just walk right through the hotel.

Room Tip: Stay at a different hotel off-site and put your saved money towards a Fast Lane pass.

My boyfriend and I stayed three nights at Cedar Point in this fine Grand Dame of a hotel. NO it is not by any means run down, worn out, dirty or dated. YES it is Victorian in style which to those accustomed to the sleek contemporary interiors of say a Manhattan hotel it would appear "old". Our room service was exemplary, the view breath taking, the space very large and convenient and the staff MORE than friendly warm and accomodating. The staff in the TGI Fridays and Perkins restaurants inside the hotel was also outstanding. We stayed in one of the king suites but even the original section of the hotel was just as pretty. We especially enjoyed looking at the old photos that lined the hallways depicting Cedar Point in its early days. The convenience factor of being IN the park made our room worth every last penny. If you are not a child of the contemporary age you will adore the character of this hotel

Hotel Breakers was clean and adequate. Great location near the beach and amusement park. You get what you pay for and you can say you stayed in a historical hotel. The place has been around I think for almost 100 yrs.

Hotel Breakers is the only way to do Cedar Point if you plan on staying over. It's so close to the gates, allows for a siesta if needed.

I'll agree with other folks, get a lake front room, in the east bldg. we were in 1556 and it was great. Pool access, beach access, very easy.

The TV was old and didn't have a DVD player or satellite. No wifi anywhere on site, or room service. Come prepared!

Sadly there's a lot of seagulls that use the beachside chairs as their toilets. Not much can be done, but grab extra towels if you choose to lounge.

Healthy food options are lacking, as they tend to be in suburban middle America. Again, come prepared!

Stayed in room 9243 and was pleasantly surprised. Room was basic but extremely clean. Average size room. AC worked great. Nice view of coasters. I never noticed anything that other reviewers have posted in the past about this place. All the staff at the hotel that we ran into were very friendly and helpful and they even let us check in at 930am! Grounds were well kept and the pools and beach area were great. Lots of nice restaurants on site and plenty to do. The short walk to get into the park is so nice and makes for a stressfree day. Also you don't pay for parking when you stay at the hotel! One hour early admission for park guests to the park is another nice benefit. The only thing I will say is that you are paying for location and benefits. The hotel rooms are a solid 2.5 star rooms. While the hotel and grounds are 3.5 star. Would stay here again for right price.
