The desk clerk at the motel recommended the Hickory House as a very good local (not a chain) restaurant. It was a very satisfactory choice. I had a combo of butterfly shrimp and ribs. The shrimp were a fair size and well cooked and the cocktail sauce was a nice blend of ketchup and horseradish. The ribs were OK, fairly standard for a family restaurant, tender and well cooked. However; i think the BBQ sauce that the Hickory House uses is outstanding. It is very tangy and took the ribs to a very high level. Many BBQ aficionados might feel that it over powers the meat, but I Like Tangy. My wife had the Butterfly shrimp dinner with a chipotle sauce. The sauce was good but once she tried the cocktail sauce she switched.
This is a good place to eat.
