“Great Thanksgiving Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

We went to the lodge for Thanksgiving dinner and to stay overnight. This was a first time trip taking our dog. We found that the lodge had three rooms that are pet friendly. The lodge was packed for Thanksgiving dinner and we had to wait to check in. Great lodge with plenty to do. Our room had two queen size beds and plenty of extra room. Small patio overlooking the woods and lake. The room was quiet and we only heard a dog once from one of the other rooms. All kinds of activities, in-door and out-door pools, pool tables, ping pong tables, arcade games, board games, tennis courts, basketball courts, bike and hike trails and a hugh lake. Great food, we had breakfast and dinner in addition tothe Thanskgiving dinner. Lots to see at the State Park, Dam, covered bridge, gorge, falls, plenty of wildlife. Several small towns, Loudonville had allot of small shops, antigues, Millerburg and the Amish areas of Holmes County,

The Mohican Lodge is a great place to stay. It is well maintained and the staff is friendly. It is a plus to have a full service restaurant on the premises. We asked for a map at the desk and were surprised that the lodge is a few miles from the state forest. We had to drive our car to get to the hiking trails as we did not want to walk on the narrow roads to the park. The lodge grounds are nice for a stroll and the view from the restaurant is great. The food in the lodge restaurant was average in both price and taste. The breakfasts were an exception as they were quite good and the waiter that took care of us at breakfast was excellent. This vacation was to hike and to see the fall foliage. The hiking trails are not long but they are well maintained and well marked. Be sure to go to the gorge overlook. It is amazing!

Room Tip: We booked two months ahead and paid $99 a night for our room. If you can, book early.

We had a highly positive stay at Mohican Lodge - clean and quiet room, excellent staff, tasty food with excellent service in the restaurant - a great place for a getaway! We've already booked a return trip.

We had a very nice, relaxing time at Mohican Lodge. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved the fire ring , sitting under the stars and enjoying a warm fire on a cool Oct. night made our stay romantic. The wonderful view as we ate breakfast was amazing. Will make this a more than once a year trip.

Our family overnights at Mohican Lodge 1-2 times per year. This year, the price skyrocketed to around $180 per night and to we thought twice about booking at this new, higher rate. Certainly one could stay at a very nice Marriott for this price at - say - Niagara Falls with all the bells & whistles and we know the rooms here are fairly "standard" and circa 1970's with a new coat of paint. Nevertheless, at the end of the day, we did book the room and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This lodge offers a setting in the absolute wilderness with plenty of outdoor fun-to-do. With acres of unspoiled forest, Mohican is a great place to relax, disconnect and enjoy nature.

Great lodge. We have stayed here in the summer and fall. Always a treat to come back to visit. The trails are beautiful, the pool is relaxing and the campfire is delightful. They start the camp fire about 630 pm and you can get a "smore package" at the front desk. Wonderful time in nature. Also I love to get a game of pool and table tennis in while we are there.

Room Tip: Rooms facing lake were great, you see a lot of trees but the lake is there to view. Great time arou...

The lodge benefits from a pristine setting that is matched by few locations in the midwest. If you enjoy the peaks and defiles of Brown County, Indiana you will love this place: All the attributes -- without the crass commercialization. The amenities of the lodge afford a combination of indulgence and an immersion in the natural surroundings. Not inexpensive, but a good value -- even for the 18 of our family who voiced unanimous acclaim for the experience.

Room Tip: Go for the twin queen beds on the 1st floor. A bit more, but worth it.
