“It's just okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2009

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Oxford to spend time with our son who is a student at Miami University. It has been reviewed as a luxury property but I would rate it only a step above of the chain hotels at the edge of town only for its location. We were disappointed that we were unable to get a late check-out despite the fact we asked for it when we reserved the rooms. We were also disappointed that the front desk clerk offered to do "anything else" for us and then gave us bad information about being able to use the hotel's garage until 5 pm. We took the car out and when we tried to park in the free parking area the garage pass would not work causing us to have to use the meters. I'm going to check that I would recommend this hotel to a friend because of its location but I'm not sure we will stay here again.

This hotel was great! The location was excellent -- right in the heart of everything. The staff was friendly. Parking was fine for both loading and unloading, as well as overnight parking (no charge). The room was clean and comfortable. I asked for a quiet room and got one. I loved the fact that the windows can open for fresh air -- fresh air is a very good thing. I would highly recommend this hotel to others.

We stayed here for a campus visit to Miami. Rooms are very large with a microwave, fridge, and a bar-type area; very comfy beds and bedding. Also a sofa and work desk in our room along with two queen beds. Internet access no problem if you bring a laptop. Very nice and helpful lobby staff and quiet room even though we were right on the edge of campus. Breakfast, not included but discounted with a coupon given at check in, was less than adequate. It is buffet style and we showed up at 7:30, were the only ones there, and the food was only ok (eggs, etc had been in warming tray for seemingly hours) but ok if you don't want to venture out. We also tried the connected to the hotel Buffalo Wild Wings and that was good. Parking is a bit of a trick- ramp is across the street so if you have a lot of stuff you need to unpack onto a cart on an incline at the reception area, bring things to your room, park your car across the street and only on the fourth floor of the ramp, then do it all over again when you check out. We could keep our car there all day even though we checked out at 9 am so that was a bonus. We walked to campus from our room for our tour and that was only a few blocks. Despite all of the whining about various minor things, this seems to be one of the best places to stay in Oxford. Very close to the High St. shops, bars, and restaurants so it is an excellent choice for a campus stay.

Stayed here overnight 1/3/2007. The location is excellent, the staff courteous and professional, and the room was very high quality. The place would get 5 stars except that the breakfast in the morning was terrible- it was cheap at $5/person, but not worth half that.

Clean, quiet, and spacious room, with comfortable bed, nice desk area and reading chair. Excellent lighting, WiFi available if you have your own laptop. Common areas were well kept. Stayed here one night prior to Miami University campus tour and would return for future stay. Convenient to town (half a block) and campus is about a 10 minute walk. Be prepared that the town rolls up the sidewalks early and many restaurants will be closed if you arrive late. Resorted to the "Buffalo Wing" bar inside the restaurant which was mediocre. Breakfast at hotel restaurant was convenient and tasty, our server was attentive. I paid $107 for king bed, non-smoking room (AAA discount).

Would consider alternatives, Hampton Inn and Amerihost hotels, just outside of town for quieter location and cheaper rooms. From outside both looked well kept, though I did not see interiors. Be forewarned that parking in Oxford seemed like it would be challenging when university is in session, but cost savings of hotel room may make it worth the slight inconvenience. If you're on a campus tour, admission's office will give you a parking pass for their lot.
