We really enjoyed our weekend at Cherry Valley Lodge. The rooms are nice and quaint. It truly has a lodge feel. The staff is very nice and the food is good. My only complaint is the noise between rooms. You can hear out into the hallway - so if there are kids running, teenagers talking, etc., well... you hear it all. We had to shove a towel between the door bottom and the floor, as there is a 1/2" gap there (which explains the noise). However, that's my only complaint about the hotel. Otherwise, it was clean, well equipped and comfy.

The water park is quite nice. However, my daughter is turning 9, and I'm not sure if we'll be back as she seems to be outgrowing the park. It's small, and that has made it perfect for an annual winter trip until now. While there are a few big slides, that's not quite enough to hold a pre-teen's interest, I fear.

The park has enough tables/seats, even during busy times. They seem to constantly run out of the small white towels they hand out - so you may want to bring your own. (Or borrow one from your room - which they ask you not to do!) The snack bar at the park is adequate.

Overall - it's a fun time for families with toddlers or elementary age kids.

We stayed for a weekend during the Fall, when there were hundreds of pumpkins, gourds and corn stalks decorating the property- very festive. The interior must have been decorated in the mid-80's: lots of dried wreaths on the walls, oak paneling, etc. Because it's a large property, it seems to be used for conferences and weddings. Our rooms were large but slightly cramped because the room is divided into two sections with a large TV stand in the middle, and the TV on top swivels to either the side of the room with the bed or the side with the sofa. The bathroom is quite large with a huge tub, and a pocket door separates it from the bedroom area. We ate in the restaurant- the food was very good and the prices were reasonable.

Room Tip: The handicap-accessible rooms have a different floor plan than described above.

We stayed at the Cherry Valley Lodge for a family members funeral. The hotel offered a discounted rate for this. The room did smell a little musty when we arrived but we always bring airfreshener with us and that helped. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. The room darkening curtains worked great! After the funeral, which was at night we went to the bar and were taken care of well. Nice couches and chairs, just a nice comfortable homey feel and the bar tender was kind and friendly.

We travel to Newark often to visit family and finding this hotel was perfect. We have many children in our family, so for a get together this hotel had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves on a cold rainy weekend. We did book on expedia. I would not recommend. Call the hotel and reserve through them directly. Our room did not include water park passes when we booked through expedia. But the hotel helped us sort it out when we got there. The rooms were nice. They allowed pets and for the first time I travelled with my little 8pound dog. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We will stay here again.

We just returned from staying at Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio. We had a beautiful room with a great view out to the pond and trees in the middle~it was very pretty with all the leaves turned and the trees all lit at night. The one negative thing was the sliding door was so dirty it was hard to see out of it...luckily it was so warm outside we opened up the door! We called to ask if they rented bikes and they let us use them for free which was a nice bonus and they are located right on the bike path that takes you into Newark or into Granville in the other direction. We ate breakfast there and it was very good~I had thick cut french toast which I couldn't finish because there was so much and my fiance' had an open English Muffin covered with chirozo and hash browns ( like a Mexican Eggs Benedict) and he said it was very good and he also couldn't finish it all because they gave him so much! We enjoyed our stay but felt the staff that worked there could have been much friendler except for our waitress in the restaurant~she was great! We will be going back next month to see another concert at the Midland Theater in Newark.

Room Tip: Try to book a room that faces inside to the trees and pond.

This is a very nice hotel. Rooms are fairly large, bathrooms are huge and well stocked. Grounds are well kept. Staff at the front desk and housekeeping personnel are very friendly and helpful. There's a bar, business center, ATM and a restaurant. Only one half mile off RT 16. This hotel within the last 5 years has added on an indoor water park.

Rates are reasonable and many attractions are nearby associated with Longaberger Basket Company.

If in the area, I would definitely stay here again as this was my third trip. I don't look for anything in the area. There will be no disappointment.
