We ate at a few agriturismos during our time in Sardinia and this was by far the best experience.
The cost was €30 a head (the cheapest) and consisted of vast numbers of plates appearing consecutively over a 2-3 hour period.
The location is glorious. Google Maps sent us to the wrong location so anyone looking to find it, the restaurant is about a mile south of Berchiddeddu on the SP79 just before you enter Sa Castanza. The views are stunning and the venue itself is delightful. Roomy yet warm and welcoming. The staff were all very friendly indeed and nothing was too much trouble.
The food was excellent. I couldn't fault the antipasti, and I couldn't stop eating it either! Cold meats, baked peppers/aubergine, ricotta with local honey, baked pecorino etc)
The secondi's were good although not excellent. The gnocchi were very good but the tripe dish didn't hit the spot. Tasted really good but the texture wasn't on the money.
The secondi was spectacular. Roast suckling pig, the finest I have ever tasted. Soft, moist and packed full of flavour, truly delicious. I consider myself a good cook and work a lot with pork (shoulder and belly especially) and this was right up there with anything I have ever tasted. We made so much noise about it that they came round and offered us more which of course we couldn't turn down.
The local seadas dessert was good but by then we were virtually bursting so could only manage a mouthful or two.
The wine that came with the meal was excellent, really very drinkable.
All in all a wonderful experience. I would perhaps recommend going on a week night to avoid the busier weekend trade which might slow up the experience a bit.
Not to be missed.
