“Waste of time and money!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

My husband and I booked this Santa trip for our two small sons, thinking it would be truly fun. It was anything but.
We paid $72+ for the four of us to ride 8 miles an hour past run-down or boarded-up homes, sad single-wide trailers, trash heaped up in beds of pick-up trucks and tires. Saw several dogs on chains that looked neglected, too.
Save your money. This was a huge disappointment.

“Hocking hills Santa train”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013 via mobile

We just returned from riding the Santa train and as much as I hate giving a average review, it's much needed. First of all I must say that everyone involved was very friendly. My complaints was there is nothing for the kids to do. The highlight was when Santa came into each car and visited with the little ones. Other than that, you just sat on the train looking at nothing. The ride could be so much more if they put more into it. Like activities for the kids, more singing, something that would truly bring out the excitement of Christmas.

“Go for the train”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

Enjoy the restored train equipment and especially the collection of privately owned cabooses. The route used is an old freight route between Logan, Nelsonville, and Hocking College and while it offers some historic buildings of the area, what you get is the trackside view. The all volunteer crew is doing a pretty good job of upkeep and operation. The "first class" coaches are very comfortable. The depot is a bit crowded but has a small display area with interesting local RR info.

“Hocking Valley scenic railroad Nelsonville, Ohio”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

Very interesting ride really enjoyed the atmosphere and friendliness of all the volunteers. The history that was given was very good but needs to be wrote out so hard of hearing people can get the full benefit of the history. I would really recommend this attraction. The scenery is not the best but the history that is given makes up for it if you can hear it. My husband is hard of hearing and did not enjoy it as much as I did all though he did enjoy it and was glad he went.
