“Decent hotel for a non-business traveler”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2011

Not worthy of the Courtyard name...very poor internet speed. If you are a business traveler looking for a hotel near CLE to stay at, I would avoid this hotel. If you are a business traveler and have to be online for webinars, conference calls, and prep work then I would say to avoid this hotel. The bandwidth at this hotel makes you feel that you are working w/ a dial up network. However, If you are looking for a hotel w/ basic internet needs (surfing/shopping) then possibly this hotel would work for you.

Wow! I can't say enough good about this hotel for under $120 per night (especially for business travelers). Pool table in lobby, wonderful swimming pool/hot tub, hotel lobby restaurant felt like an upscale Vegas club. The food was amazing. Breakfast buffet was the best of any hotel that I have been to on business. I thought I would spend over $20 for the buffet, the bill came back and it was $13.95 (less expensive than a meal at Bob Evans). The service was also top notch.

A few items for Room for Improvements

- Large bottle of water in my room cost $5 I needed a bottle of water, but I couldn't carry that large bottle with me. It would have been nice to have a free small bottle of water in the room, or for $2
- Bedding was nice, but not as nice as the "Heavenly Beds" at the Westin hotels.
- Allow smoking in the courtyard (if that is legal). If not, create an area where a cigar smoker can sit down and smoke a cigar.
- Firepits did not have propane tanks and the attendant was unable to light the firepits for me.

Front desk staff is helpful, Hotel is clean and quiet. All the usual things you would expect at a Courtyard. I stay here quite often for work. Some of the rooms could use a little freshening up for things like peeling wallpaper and cracked sinks in the bathrooms.
Good option for the price.

My husband and I traveled with our 17 yr old daughter to the Berea, OH area so that she could take a college music audition at Baldwin-Wallace College (about 2 miles away). This property had a special rate for B-W clients & guests which couldn't be beat.

The room--a standard moderate room--nothing extraordinary. However, it was clean, everything worked well and the beds were better than average. My husband and daughter had great breakfasts each morning. Note that breakfast is not complimentary.

The best quality was the great hotel staff. All were friendly and extremely helpful. The shuttle bus was able to accommodate our every request without fail. We don't know if we'll be back, but if so, this will be our #1 choice.

This was our first ever stay at a Courtyard. We used a free night certificate from Marriott to do so. Because it was a holiday weekend, there weren't many guests. Our room had lots of open space compared to the Springhill Suites near Philly. There was a new 32" HD TV. The broken desk chair was quickly replaced once we called the front desk. However, there was a spartan feel to the bathroom area, with just a simple towel rack located closer to the toilet than the bathub/shower. Even the toiletries were skimpy, with just shampoo & conditioner, but no hand cream. We've stayed in places costing far less, that give give more. Although they had a special offer for room & breakfast on their website, we had to pay the $10.95 each for the buffet because of a quirky Marriott Rewards stipulation. The breakfast was good, however.

As a mid-week, self-employed, business traveler, I found this hotel to be clean, up-to-date, and assessable. Was it worth almost twice the price ($129) of the more value-priced options in the same area, especially without breakfast included, no. Room were up to date with a flat-screen tv and nice bed linens. The too soft mattress wasn't a big hit for me. Week-end rates were much better, so i would recommend this hotel for the week-end traveler, but not for the week-day business traveler if they rather than their company is footing the bill.
