I stayed at the Dayton/Miamisburg Doubletree Guest Suites for one night on November 9, 2007 and was pleased. This appeared to be an older hotel property, but my room was richly furnished with a work table, chair, 2 phones, 2 televisions, sofa bed, microwave, coffee maker with Wolfgang Puck coffee, large closet, 2 beds with a comfortable duvet, large bathroom sink and stocked with Neutrogena bath products. The bed was comfortable with lots of pillows. There was an onsite restaurant and nice shopping mall adjacent to the hotel property easily accessible by car. The bathroom could use a make over and could have been a little cleaner since there was a black substance of some sort splashed on a small portion of the ceiling and door. I cleaned it off myself - no big deal. Oh, and I found a couple of hairs around the tub area. Otherwise, everything was okay during my stay here. As with most hotels anymore, the doors to the rooms were very loud. I could hear doors slamming all around, but luckily at nighttime this wasn't a problem. I was a little bothered by the absence of a door between the living room area and bedroom area. Otherwise, this was a nice and comfortable stay. Check-in was a breeze (love the cookies) and check-out was complete with the final bill placed under the door. I just left the room key cards on the desk and left the next morning without a problem. This would be a good place for just about any traveler. There is, however, a Homewood Suites by Hilton right next door.

Stayed at this hotel in early October 2007 for a wedding. The hotel was booked via the wedding/group section on the hotel's website. Got a decent price for the hotel. We arrived late to the hotel (after midnight). We called ahead to tell them that we were arriving late, and they said it was not a problem. The hotel is a little hard to find as it is not on a main street. Even with a GPS device, we missed the turn off street (probably easier to find during the day.) Check in was quick and easy. Receptionist provided us two warm cookies, which are always delicious. My girlfriend was looking forward to the cookies before we got there. Receptionist also provided us with a wedding gift bag that the bride and groom had planned to give all guest in the wedding party. Our room was on the second floor. We took the rear elevator and easily found our room. The room is a small suite, with a living room/desk/eating area and the bedroom with bathroom. The living room/desk/eating area had a TV, couch, coffee table and a chair, with a desk and a desk chair. There was the standard coffee machine as well as a microwave and mini refrigerator. The bedroom was of decent size. The sink and counter are in the bedroom and not in the bathroom. The bathroom had a normal bathtub and toilet. Our room also had a balcony that faced the outdoor pool (closed for the fall/winter season). The balcony had two chairs and a small table. The view from the balcony was not very impressive, as it faces the inside of the hotel. Only view you have is of a water tower near the hotel.
I found that the sheets on the bed were a little rough. The pillows and the bed were ok. The air conditioner also was a little loud, but it did not keep us up. We did not hear anyone next door to us. We did hear footsteps from upstairs during the day. The hotel has a small indoor pool, but we did not use it. We had breakfast the next day, typical breakfast buffet, ie. scramble eggs, bacon, waffles, French toast, cereal, yogurt, fruit, bagel, etc.
The hotel is located in an area with other hotel chains. Shopping mall is a few minute walk away.
Not a bad hotel, pretty basic had a good experience.

  • Liked — Even with 2 wedding groups and a soccer team staying, hotel was not too hectic
  • Disliked — Bed sheets were a little rough, AC was a little loud

I was on a business trip this past weekend which had me working late on Saturday and so I invited my wife to come with me and we stayed in this hotel. I am a Hilton loyalist and am a Gold VIP, but after this experience and the fact that I am now SPG Gold, I will be switching!

We were woken up at 6:30AM on Sunday by the foulest smell of cigarettes coming from our suite's bathroom. I have allergies this time of year and my wife cannot stand the smell. Clearly the vent rooftop vans have not been maintained in this hotel and someone was smoking in the bathroom next door and all of the smoke was flowing into our room. I called down to the front desk and they said they would check it out. I heard no further word and the smell continued to get worse so we woke up and decided to forego a leisurely Sunday morning as we had planned.

When I got downstairs to check-out the lady volunteered no information or apology so I asked her if I had been put in a smoking room. Only then did she respond and say no and that her manager had gone upstairs when I had called and said that someone was smoking up there . . . THANKS I ALREADY FIGURED THAT OUT! She said NOTHING after this, no apology, NOTHING! I told her I stay at a lot of Hilton products and that this had turned into my worst experience yet and that I typically avoided Doubletrees and that this is basically why. I think she mustered and "I'm sorry." at this point. She then handed over my receipt and said she had adjusted my rate. I looked at it and she had taken $20 off of my $99, when I had JUST TOLD HER I WAS HERE FOR BUSINESS. Any imbecile in this business knows that it was not my COMPANY that was inconvenienced here, all I want is a sincere apology and some ACTION.

Then, since I'm a Gold VIP we have breakfast coupons, we go into the lounge area, are not greeted or anything and just sit down. All of a sudden, from some 15 feet behind I hear someone gruffly yell "do you want coffee or orange juice?" I don't answer but evidently my wife understood it was directed at us and responded. I don't need to say anything more about this experience.

Hilton should pull the flag despite the fact that there is apparently a renovation in discussion for this hotel, because the new management company clearly doesn't care about their guests.

My husband and I stayed at the double tree for 3 nights while in Dayton for an airshow. We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the room. We've stayed at other hotels where they describe their rooms as "suites." This room was wonderful. It had a separate sitting area with a desk, fridge and microwave. The bed was in another room with the bathroom off to the side. The bed was extremely comfortable and the whole room was clean (and cleaned daily). The hotel is surrounded by many restaurants and lots of shopping (Dayton Mall within walking distance).
I give this hotel two thumbs up. We will stay here again next time we're in Dayton!

We were able to score a deal on this hotel using Priceline. Husband and I arrived late 10:30pm and the complimentary chocolate chip cookies were gone. Perfectly fine with us, I didn't pay for this place because of some free chocolate chip cookies. Another lady checking in in at the same time as me whined to the point they gave her some free coupon for breakfast - theirs? somwhere else? I don't know. The worker and manager were very good and offered great customer assistance to this whiner.. I mean customer...I did have some concern when checking because there was a large group of 20's year olds in the lobby. It looks like there had caravaned and were staying the night. He gave them a first floor room as well. I was prepared to march right back up and get another room because I had read the reviews about thin walls. Our room had a sitting area with couch, large desk with chair, and TV, in another room was our bed, double vanity, another tv and the shower had the rounded shower curtain and toilet in the water closet. There was a nice sized closet. Note, the hairdryer and iron were in our closet. The room was large and the bed was large and very comfy. My husband back was bothering him but after he woke up the next morning it was doing better. There was no noise. We were in room 110 next to the hallway that leads to the pool and there was no traffic noise or did I hear any of the 20's something crowd. We heard some people above us walking around the next morning but that is to be expected with multi level hotel rooms. It was a great hotel, safe, quiet, large and comfy bed. Only down side is that there is no restaurants within walking distance. There is a large mall and several restaurants within a 1-2 min car drive but none within walking distance.

  • Liked — Size of room, Comfy Bed
  • Disliked — No restaurants within walking distance
