Recently ate here with a friend from out of town. Very nice atmosphere. Easy to get to. Nice and clean space that is well decorated.
The hostess at the front podium was not in the best mood and it showed. No smile. Very business like. I mentioned it to our server. The server mentioned something about a car repair that placed the hostess in a bad mood. Too bad. Our first impression was not one of feeling welcome.
Our server was nice and helpful. We were there during a lobster special. $15.99 for a whole Maine lobster. The kitchen, however, did absolutely no prep work or preliminary cracking of the shell. We opted to pass on the special. Instead I ordered the lobster bisque which was a bit too sweet for my taste.
We each ordered a drink from the bar. They were acceptable. Not remarkable in any way.
My friend had the crab stuffed mushrooms and thought they were very good.
We both ordered stip steaks, medium-rare with french fries, salad, and an 8 oz. cold water lobster tail which was served out of the shell. The lobster tail was excellent. Not overcooked, tender and sweet. The steaks were both done as ordered. It was a choice steak and did have some toughness and gristle. It was ok for $23 with sides.
For all the hype we expected better. There are too many good steak houses in northeast Ohio to be just average. If they get a better cut of meat it would definitely be worth paying more. The experience was just inconsistent. Average bar. Good appetizers. Excellent lobster tails. Average steak.
