“Major upgrade needed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

Stayed at this hotel for two nights to take the family to Kings Island. Carpets were a mess, stained, a very bad odor. Had to change rooms which was a little better. Bought the breakfast buffet. I should have just went to McDonalds. Food was BAD. The staff at the front desk was very nice, but you could tell even they were embarrassed by the look of the hotel. So much is in need of a renovation. The rooms were cheap, but now I know why. I doubt this hotel will be open much longer. It would be better torn down and made into a parking lot.

I stayed here for a meeting and was pleased with the good rates but now I know why! The place is called a resort but is NOT! It's very old and in a lot of need of upgrades. The rooms are plain with old, worn furniture, beds are fine. Lots of little things needed, like a toilet paper holder in the bathroom, just had to put it on the side of the tub! The sliding door to the porch overlooking the lake was nice, but no screen door and no lock on the door, just the stick to block the sliding door from being opened. The conference facilities were nice. The grounds are very pretty with a nice pool and even a corn hole game! The bartender doesn't know how to make anything! But the nice waitress warned us it was the same guy as the previous night. The restaurant had a nice conference lunch menu to get us all in and out quickly. NOT! Took almost 2 hours and had to order from the limited menu, and it WASN"T even crowded! Oh my. We did have a great time!

Room Tip: Lake side was nice, bottom floor too so you can walk out and sit outside or walk to conference rooms...

The hotel could use some updating, but the beds were comfortable and the room was priced right for my families needs. Close to Kings Island, giving the hotel a great location. Front desk staff was courteous. There are plenty of activities to keep the young ones entertained.

Okay, how much did I dislike this place...let me count the problems. Mouse turds in the hide-a-bed, swallow nests and bird poop on the patio, crack in the sink, no hangers, electric plug by desk didn't work, cardboard blankets, dirt behind all the furniture, large rips in the privacy curtains, workout equipment broken, hot tub and pool closed, one horseshoe stake missing (but you could play corn hole), dirty hall carpeting, woodwork beat up but the public areas are very nice. Oh forgot, cold runny eggs in their overpriced breakfast (no continental breakfast). But did I say the public areas are clean and attractive. So go there for a meeting but don't stay overnight. It isn't worth the price. (Oh, for the inconvenience of mouse turds we received two free breakfasts)!

Have NEVER considered leaving a hotel until I checked in here! Door was stuck to frame when we tried to get in. Toilet did not work, food and trash behind tv. Food or something dried all over back of door and ice machine didn't work because it was not even plugged in. Asked for these things to be fixed 3 times (span of 4hrs) but just got attitude instead. This place needs to be shut down ASAP - just can't believe they are still allowed to take people's money. Left and stayed at Quality Inn - now that place was awesome!!

I was hoping for a better room for the money paid. The resort center is extremely run down and needs TLC. The complex is huge and has a lot of activities to do, but the rooms are anything but attractive. First, we had no towels. I called 3 times and finally at 8 p.m. got some delivered. Second, the room needed a serious detail cleaning. There was a layer of dust under the bed and little dead bugs along the perimeter of the room. Smears on the sliding glass door and I could go on. The bathroom was essentially clean except it had cobwebs in the corners and dust on the toilet paper holder, etc. The whole place needs gutted and remodeled. The carpet was nasty and stained and there were holes in the walls behind some of the outlet covers. On a positive, the beds were freshly laundered and clean and the air conditioner was in good working order. I spoke to the front desk with my concerns. I believe they get a lot of these talks. They were not unpleasant but not particularly sympathetic either. They offered us some free breakfast buffets. Sorry, but, there was no way we were going to eat there if the rooms are any indication! I wanted a huge reduction in my rate...but, that wasn't offered. So, hotel booker beware!

Room Tip: This is a huge complex. We were in building G.

This place is completely run-down and is in need of some serious investment.

The rooms looked tatty and worn, dirty marks on the walls, door carpet, bath, windows, curtains. No-one was waiting at reception, so had to ring a bell, and the rotund receptions came schlepping round the corner from the back-office and wasn't particularly pleasant (I must have interrupted Days of Our Lives or her Twinki-scoffing seesion).

Look at the photos to see how worn-down the place is, but apart from the pubic hair on the toilet seat, it was fairly clean in the room but, as my review title suggests, there's only so-much the cleaner can do.

My morning shower was a non-event, as the knob for diverting tap water to the shower-head wasn't working, and so I thought I would have to sit in the grubby bath instead, but as no plug was provided, that wasn't an option either,. So I had to bathe under the tap using a plastic cup to wash myself.

Breakfast was the usual cheap-and-nasty affair, and the only other person in there was a miserable looking employee (the morning bloke from reception), who came in to grab free food and take away back to the infamous back-office.
