“A Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2009

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Kirkwood Inn in May, 2009. We'd called ahead, and they allowed us to leave our bicycles at the Inn while we were kayaking, and leave our kayaks while we were bicycling. The room was clean and comfortable and the buffet breakfast was very, very good. If there was anything wrong, it's this: we thought we were staying at a B&B. It's not that. But no problem -- we'd definitely stay there again.

My girlfriends and I were delighted with the over-the-top buffet and atmosphere at the Kirkwood Inn. After Key-lime tea cake, fresh fruit, eggs, and Belgium waffles to order with maple syrup, we strolled through the romantic gardens and trails. Then we sipped coffee at the gazebo as we planned a tea for our upcoming wedding. We were so delighted with the Inn that we chose to host the bridal shower at this charming location.

Hotel was a clean and very nice place to stay. The breakfast was good change from the Motel 6. The three young employees working the front desk were very nice and professional. I recommend this place 100 %.

Quiet and Clean.

Great value - corporate rates comparable to extended stays - quality that of Marriott Courtyard. Business travelers to the greater Cincinnati area are missing a bargain, if they pass up the Kirkwood Inn.

We returned yesterday from a weekend in Lebanon (near Cincinnati, and
Paramounts Kings Island Theme Park), in Ohio. We stayed at the Kirkwood Inn because of the close proximity to the event we were attending.

This place was such a charming surprise! Our rooms were immaculate and well appointed with nice furniture and great service. They have a nice outdoor pool, which our room looked out to. My sister's room overlooked a beautifully landscaped courtyard, featuring lots of lavender plants, a gazebo, and an historic building where their complimentary, and abundant breakfast was served each day.

The owners of the Kirkwood Inn are on-site and are very enthusiastic about the restorations to their inn, and also dedicated to the comfort of their guests.

The price was very reasonable compared to some of the chain hotels in the area, and the friendly service and genuine smiles and helpfulness of the entire staff made our stay one of the best experiences of our travelling history!

We highly recommend the Kirkwood Inn if you plan to visit the Cincinnati/Mason/Lebanon, Ohio area.

My wife and I spent 2 nights here based on the well-deserved recommendation of prior guests as being a cut above the others. Very affordable, well maintained, clean & with a very friendly, helpful staff. The included, full (very diverse), hot & cold breakfast would have been excellent by itself, but was made more so by it being served in their adjacent historical farmhouse that has been historically & beautifully restored. Definitely a lodging that is a "cut above" the others..........Bob Cantlin; Limerick, PA

My husband and I were travelling up to Lebanon, as I am working on an architectural research project. We found out that there was an antique show taking place that week-end so we opted to stay in the area for the night. Driving around the area in search of accomodations, we, luckily, stumbled across the Historic Kirkwood Inn. I thought that we would have to settle on a somewhat "generic" motel/hotel due to the fact that the area is basically known to be rather touristy, as it homes the amusement park King's Island. I was more than pleased with what we found at this establishment. The motel itself is not historical, per say, but it's decor has a quasi-colonial feel. The rooms were immaculate and cozy adorned with beautiful color schemes and plush carpet. It was obvious that the Inn is family owned, as it had loads of character and a sense of pride is obviously taken in the upkeep of the motel and surrounding grounds. Being a fan of flowers and gardening, I appreciated the abundance of flowers , especially the lavender (my personal favorite) which lined the brick walk ways. To top of our already fantastic stay, our continental breakfast was served in an historic house dating back to the late 18th-century. Our options at breakfast were far from ordinary continental choices. I have to say that I ate more than one of the fresh, hot biscuits with homemade peach butter...yummy! My husband loved the selection of hot breakfast meats which he had with his biscuits. The staff in the historic house shared the history of the establishment, along with the recipe for the peach butter. Upon checking out, we spoke with the owners (a husband/wife team) to thank them for the stay. We ended up having a great conversation with them on the subject of the area's rich history. I ended up finding out a bit of information, which I plan to use in my research paper. Everyone was extremely hospitable and possessed a true zeal for guest satisfaction along with history and preservation. All-in-all, our weekend ended up being much more than a single day of research, but rather a relaxing, informative, and romantic get-away. The feel one gets at the Historic Kirkwood Inn far exceeds your run of the mill Lebanon/Mason suburbanized/tourist expectations, at a very reasonable price. We will be visiting the inn again.

  • Liked — The charm and cleanliness is equal to the hospitality of the staff.
