“Fun Times!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

After booking out trip here I was very worried because of all of the bed bug reviews. We got to our room and I checked all the beds and we were good to go. We had a awesome day at the water park. The room prices were a bit pricey but we shared with friends so that helped. The Kid Kabin Suite was perfect for 4 adults and 3 children. We also enjoyed the close proximity to local restaurants as dinner was pretty expensive at the hotel. The breakfast buffet was the best I've ever seen though!!! We would Definitely return!!

We decided to go to Great Wolf at the tail (no pun intended) end of our spring break. We stayed just one night and thought that at least two would make sense on our next visit.

Some general info about us: Two families with 3 kids (6yo, 5yo, 14mos). Drove over from Indianapolis.

The water park was a great time for the kids of all ages with plenty to keep everyone occupied. We splurged and booked one of the three cabanas on our first day. These are small tents that house a TV, fridge/mini bar, locker, towels, and lounge chairs. It was a great place to set up a camp and have a quiet place to take the baby without having to go back to the room.

We stayed at the pool the first day until it closed at 10pm--so the kids were already pretty cached out.

Next morning we headed to the buffet for breakfast--food was good (and I HATE buffets) but the service was pretty lacking considering all they have to do is bring you a drink.

Next we did a few hours at the pool again and then spent some time completing some of the Magiquest scavenger hunts. These send you over 3 floors of the hotel searching for various items. If you want your kids to do this solo--they will have to be able to read at the very least. It was fun to play with my 5yo though.

We also got the two older kids "Paw Passes" for the weekend. These are a pre-paid pass that get the kids all sorts of things that they're going to ask for anyway--at a discount. The pass got the kids a re-fillable cup for drinks, a scoop of ice cream, some candy, tokens for the arcade, a round of bowling, a magic wand for Magiquest, and other stuff that we didn't even get to. We thought it was great because we were able to frame the weekend on the premise that if it wasn't on the pass, the kids couldn't get it!

Only one real complaint--refills for the sodas were $1.99--I own a restaurant and I know what soda costs and that is a crazy amount. We charge that for bottomless drinks.

Overall a great little getaway and we'll be back for sure.

OK, first things first...it was Spring Break, so the hotel/waterpark was pretty much filled to capacity (we figured that going in). However, we did not see any effect on the service the hotel provided.

Rooms are clean and go along with the theme of the rest of the Lodge. Lots of space to do other things throughout the hotel (obvious waterpark, MagicQuest for kids (insanely busy doing this, the only drawback was that there was always tons of traffic of kids going to and from 3rd and 4th floors on the elevator), arcade, gift shop, Starbucks inside gift shop, and lots of opportunities for food.

The waterpark is one of the best I have seen. We have stayed at other hotel/waterparks throughout the midwest, and I have to say this is one of the best. Tons of slides, lazy river, wave pool, and the ever vigilant life guards, constantly attentive.

We really enjoyed our stay. The only drawback (and kept the review at 4/5 was the food). We ate breakfasts at the buffet (food was...ok) and had dinner once at the Bar and Grille near the lobby. Food was very greasy and lacked taste. I'm being nit-picky, because on a whole, the hotel is a great place to stay, and the food does not seem to be on par with everything else.

Great rooms, awesome park, tons of things for kids to do (MagiQuest, arcade, etc.) and the family to be together. An improvement on food is the only "gripe" I have. We had a great time, and made spring break very relaxing and fun!

The water park was large and fun for our 12 year old. We let her and her friend enjoy the vast park while my wife & I soaked in the adult only hot tub most of the weekend.
The room was clean and in good repair. The staff were friendly as usual.
The food was a little pricey, which is to be expected for an attraction. The breakfast buffet is the best, the rest of the meals and restaurant are just ok - especially for the inflated prices.

Overall a good time. We went over Easter weekend and paid very inflated prices but it was the only time we could go.

Room Tip: Try to get a room closer to the lobby and not the conference center if you are going to the water pa...

We stayed at The Great Wolf lodge for three nights, in a kid cabin room. We are timeshare owners and used out points. Our exchange not only paid for our room, but also came with 7 waterpark passes! We had a 19, 15, 14 and 11 year old boys and they all had a great time and are ready to go back! The only small problem we had was getting the heat and air unit adjusted. It's a great place and has everything right there and you don't have to leave for anything! The kids favorites, of course the water park open 10-10, the ice cream shop with dippin dots, pizza, the game room, magicquest! The adults favorites, Starbucks coffee just down the hall, gym on site and multiple food choices on site and within a mile of the hotel! The staff was courteous and very accommodating with everything we asked. If you go, of course take plenty of money for games, ice cream and whatever your kids like and you allow. The rooms do have a small refrigerator and a microwave, so we took snacks and drinks and this saved some money. Just to watch all the kids is great! At night they have a show with an animated tree and after that they do karaoke and dancing with kids of all ages.

We've been 6 times now. Typically we've enjoyed the GWL in Mason very much. This time it was spring break and the busiest it's ever been. The staff was clearly overwhelmed and had no problems sharing that fact with us over and over again! Rooms not cleaned until 6pm. Out of towels. Staff edgy and unwilling to go the extra little bit. It's a shame, the kids love it -- it just makes you feel like a sucker as a parent spending $1000 for a few nights.

We were not able to travel out of town for Spring Break, so we drove 10 minutes and spent a night at the Great Wolf Lodge Mason. While we paid high season rates because it was Spring Break that is understandable.

We checked in online which helped minimize the wait time when we arrived. The line can be long at the counter. It seems very long when all the kids want to do is get in the water as fast as possible.

Our 6 year old and 2 year old had a great time at the Water Park. It is well maintained, safe and has lots of fun things for kids of all ages.

Our room was comfortable. While we ordered take out from a local restaurant, they do have plenty of food options.

We will be back!
