Description: In April of 1983, The National Exemplar began operation in the Mariemont, Ohio landmark, The Mariemont Inn. The Inn was constructed in the mid-1920's as a small piece of the very unique Mariemont community, founded by Mary Emery. The National Exemplar Restaurant was named after learning that Mary Emery once referred to her developing community as the National Exemplar, meaning national model community. The National Exemplar Restaurant is a full service, neighborly restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. We only use the freshest quality ingredients to prepare each meal. Our goal is to serve great food, provide friendly and professional service in a clean and relaxing atmosphere.

Beautiful, setting in an historic hotel. Comfortable outside seating in the warm weather. Food is elegantly served, friendly, well trained staff.

“Great Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Dined here 12/21/12 and had a great experience. From the moment we arrived, every thing was top shelf. Tyler our server was knowledgeable and attentive. The Hungarian soup was wonderful as were the entrees. We had the crab cakes, coos coos, salmon and the liver. Will return again soon. One of our party left his credit card and the staff called to let him know that they had it and it was secure.

“What seems a little sleepy.... isn't”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

The Exemplar has been around for years, and has been a go-to place for older locals for breakfast, brunch and lunch. They have livened up their menu, and the consistently good food and very good service are worth a visit. Whether it's your first time back in a long time, or you've never been, you'll be glad you went.

“Best breakfast and ambience in Ohio!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012 via mobile

We drove 12 miles out of our way to have a Bloody Mary with our breakfast. Well worth it. Fireside dining, great mimosas and a turkey dill crepe that as good as I've ever had. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Oh and the buffalo hanging in the foyer actually talks. No kidding.

“Take a hike”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

My wife and I have been to the National Exemplar four times in the last month since they brought on the chef fronm Hugo's. In the three previous visits we throughly enjoyed the food. I espeically liked the pan roasted chicken breast with the au jus. Tonight I ordered it again and it was served without the au jus. I pointed that out to the server who tried to tell me that the au jus was there when it was clearly not. He went back to the kitchen and returned to say they were making more au jus and it would take a few minutes. Never saw him again. Some level of supervisor ( leopard print blouse) came around and asked how everything was. I related my complaint about the au jus and she could not have cared less. Nothing offered, not a glass of wine or anything. I am not a complainer usually but this really ticked me off. Here's a tip to leopard blouse lady- don't ask how everything is if you don't really care. Take a hike.
