After receiving excellent service at the La Quinta in Jackson, TN you expect that's the type of employees they all have. Not so much. We arrived late in the evening and when i got there I was told there were no rooms. Well I expressed my disappointment and told them I'd been looking at their website and it said there were rooms available. He proceeded to tell me then there was 1 room left but it was smoking. Ok well I hate smoking rooms but if it was all I could get I was tired and ready to give it a shot. I got our stuff and walked in the room and immediately started coughing. I was coughing so much I just couldn't stop so I knew I could stay. I gathered up my things and went back (still coughing) and told them I couldn't stay. There was now another person at the desk (more about this later) and by some miracle they had a non smoking room available now. I went up there and it smelled less bad so I could stay. At least I wasn't coughing.
The hotel had been renovated and it was nice but the checking people not so much. The person that originally greeted me could not have been more apathetic when explaining my plight (I didn't want to have to look for another pet friendly hotel that late) he just stared daggers at me. Looking at his hands he had very long, raggedy, unclean fingernails just not appealing and his "helper" was wearing his shorts and his wife beater. While he was at least more helpful it wasn't very professional to be greeted in this mannor. If he was off duty he shouldn't have been behind the desk in those close, although I do appreciate him getting me another room. I have my suspicions as to whether or not it was actually "clean" non-smoking I didn't die and I slept on the sheets like they were new.
Beds are comfortable, noise minimal, darkeness for sleeping great.
Staff not so much.
