“A Hidden Gem - Painted Valley Farm Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2011

If you are like us you try to do a little research before deciding on a place to stay when you are traveling. You make a choice, but still are unsure what you are going to get and hope you made the right choice. We researched a lot of places in the Hocking Hills area and decided on Painted Valley Farm B & B. We couldn't find a lot of reviews/feedback on this B & B, but decided to take a chance, and needless to say we were concerned. Let me say we couldn't be more pleased with our choice. We were welcomed by Luanne and Larry, who immediately made us feel welcome and very much at home. Their home is warm, inviting and very comfortable. It's decorated in a country style as you would expect a log cabin tucked away in a peaceful little valley should be. If you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful getaway where all you hear are the birds, and crickets, look no further. If you listen hard enough you might hear the sounds of the 100's of butterflies making their rounds of the beautiful flower beds. There's a large number of humming birds that make regular visits of the feeders on the large wrap around porch. There's even a hot tub on the back porch for you to enjoy. Our room was large, very comfortable and very clean. We even had fresh homemade cookies (and quite delicious) waiting for us when we walked into the room. The bathroom was also large and very clean, with 2 sinks. Luanne and Larry ensure every detail is considered when taking care of their guests. You'll want for nothing. Even small little touches like fresh cut flowers that make you feel like you are truly a VIP. Now, for the breakfasts. Oh my!!! The breakfasts were wonderful. We enjoyed fresh fruit and Luanne's Crunchy French Toast on the first morning. Served with Larry's home made syrup. Awesome breakfast!!! Our second morning offered more fresh fruit and incredible omelets prepared perfectly along with tastey homefries and delicious warm cinnamon rolls. And Larry makes a mean batch of bacon (cooked to perfection, I might add). You will not be dissappointed with your breakfast. Luanne is a great cook. Hotel's aren't even in the same league folks.

The parks in the area are beautiful and there are plenty of activites to keep you busy. We never relized Ohio had such a spectacular scenic area. Luanne and Larry were very helpful in giving us advice on how to plan our days. We truly enjoyed the area. All the parks are within about 45 minutes or so of their farm, with very scenic drives to the park areas. Everything was very convenient.

Luanne and Larry are wonderful hosts and just good, genuine people. We spent one evening talking and laughing with them like we were visiting our relatives. We felt that much at home. We hated to leave. They have a saying that they welcome strangers, but say goodbye to friends. We felt the same way. That we had made two new friends during our short stay. When someone cares about what they do it truly shows in their work. They really enjoy what they do and it shows in how they treat their guests. It is by far the best we've encountered of all the B & B stays we've tried. We highly, highly recommend a stay at the Painted Valley Farm Bed and Breakfast. Rest assured you are making a great choice. We will certainly return again and feel confident refering our friends and family to stay there, as we know they won't be disappointed.

Luanne and Larry, thank you again for sharing your home with us and making our getaway thoroughly enjoyable. It was greatly appreciated. : )

Your friends,
LuAnn & Dave

We can not stop raving about our wonderful stay at the Painted Valley Farm. We stayed in the Hummingbird room which was spacious, clean and had a large comfortable bed. I loved all of the little touches like the reading spectacles laying on a book by the bed, fresh flowers, and the extra quilt. Both bathrooms had two sinks, plenty of space and were stocked with anything you may have forgotten. We enjoyed cozying up on the sofa to watch a movie at night after a soak in the hot tube.
The owners are friendly and they were happy to answer any questions we had about the surrounding area. Both mornings we ate a hearty breakfast with fresh fruit and didn't even bother to eat lunch. I can still taste the wonderful homemade maple syrup that we saw Larry making from sap he collected on the farm. In the horse barn Luanne introduced us to a rambunctious puppy that they have taken in until they can find her a permanent home.
Painted Valley Farm B&B is a perfect secluded spot to relax, enjoy nature, and meet new friends.
