I am constantly surprised at how many wonderful things (restaurants, attractions, activities, etc) are in Cleveland. We were taken to Pier W as a special gift, and we were not disappointed. Apparently this has been a restaurant of note in the Cleveland area (this restaurant is in Lakewood) for many years. This is a white-tablecloth and china restaurant - a place where the waiters clean off the tablecloth with a crumb blade, so please don't go thinking this is casual dining. The view of Lake Erie is extraordinary - a reservation for a window table is a must. (You should get reservations, anyway...) Art Deco décor - chairs are a little small and institutional. But the food! Oh, the food! The menu is not narrowed to seafood (beef, lamb, chicken - all available and probably superb) but the seafood is fresh and fabulous....and you have to order each item (veggies and salads are separate from the main course). We had shrimp cocktail appetizers (excellent) and ordered Lobster Bisque or Clam Chowder. Main Courses: Salmon, Scallops, Cod, Tuna, Mahi Mahi - I had a special of Abalone with Bacon. (BACON!) There was no room for dessert, but they sounded fabulous: phenomenal cheese selection, truffle cake, sorbet, brulee, cheesecake.....(roll me out, please.) It is not inexpensive; wait service is refined and attentive without being intrusive (and should be tipped well) - be sure to take walk out on their deck before you leave. (It is reserved for patrons and those who live in the high rises nearby.) Wonderful meal.
