“Perhaps growing pains”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

Otani has other locations, but the one in Hudson, OH just expanded to habachi style and has plenty of room for improvement. Service was very slow with only one hibachi cook for the entire establishment on a Thursday night. Drink order 20 minutes. Menus 30 minutes...you get the picture. Hot food was average with sushi as the best part. Website advertises ladies night for drinks with a discount, but when the bill came, no discount for women's drinks. The flier in the restaurant has a disclaimer in font 8 "bar only", but when we bought happy hour drinks based on the website which when we came back home and checked website, there is no bar only stipulation. The money was less of an issue than the general attitued which included the waitress adding "I don't have a computer". Our group will not recommend to others unfortunately.

“Good quality, but overpriced.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2012

When I go out for sushi, I get nigiri or sashimi, so freshness is very important to me. I quite agree with the other reviewers who talk up the quality of the food at Otani, which admitedly is excellent.

My issue with Otani is the price. For example, if you go to Sakura in Akron, you can get twice the food for the same price, still enjoy a clean atmosphere, and there is zero difference in quality.

I am certainly not telling anyone to avoid Otani - its wonderful food. Just be aware that there are other sushi places nearby of identical quality that are cheaper.

“Chris and Sai have got to be the best sushi chefs around, period!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2010

Chris, Sai, Tomoko and Kong in the kitchen, and you too Marco, make dining at Otani's in Hudson a great night out. Sitting at the sushi bar watching them "perform" is truly a perfect way to end the week. You can order from the menu or just let them work there magic and create a roll for you. They have some customer inspired creations on the wall that are all just awesome. From the fresh Hamachi to the wonderful Uni, you wont find better sushi around. Give Otani's in Hudson a try, you won't be dissapointed.

“Wouldn't go anywhere else!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2009

I've had sushi in several big cities and on cruises, but I always find myself comparing it to Otani. Although other places have been wonderful, Otani's sushi creations are second to none. In addition to the great tasting fresh ingredients, the creative presentations and skilled staff have me coming back for more every time I visit the area! Sushi prices are reasonable and what you get is well worth the price. If you're on a budget, be sure to check out happy hour too-- several appetizers at great prices as well as California rolls and Alaska rolls for $2.50 each!

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2009

Living in town, we eat Otani sushi at least 2-3 per week. I'm not well-versed in sushi, but we love it. The Volcano roll is wonderful!
