“Great overnight for a roadtrip; ventilation needs improving”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013 via mobile

Great standard hotel with a generous breakfast buffet. We use this hotel because of its pet friendly policy. We've stayed there on 4 different occasions. My only complaint is that the heat system comes on and off through the night making it very difficult to sleep. I addressed this issue with the front desk, but we were unable to resolve the issue. Otherwise this is a great option for travelers. I hope the hotel can address the ventilation system.

We stayed here on our way home from Florida. The building is huge and a little overwhelming when trying to find your way around. The front entrance is actually at the back of the building when you come in off the street.

Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was nice to have extra pillows and blanket in the room should we need them. The heater was great as you could set the temperature so you didn't have to listen to the fan all night. It would just come on as needed.

There was no fridge or microwave in the room. These items seem to be becoming more of a standard feature so I'm always surprised when a room does not have them. The wifi worked great.

The room rate included a full hot breakfast. This included bacon, eggs, sausage, cereal, waffles, yogurt, breads and pastries. There is a restaurant on site and the evening we were there they had a prime rib buffet dinner for $19.99. We did not eat dinner there so I can't comment on whether it was good or not.

The facility is so large that we wandered down a few halls and never did find an ice machine. We didn't bother to ask the front desk where it was but obviously it was not somewhere that seemed logical.

The hotel was easy to find from the interstate but there isn't much around it. We drove about 10 minutes to restaurants and stores. That was not a concern for us and would not deter me from staying there again.

I stayed here on my way to a business trip in WV. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was pretty good. The hotel wasn't bad, but just OK. Nothing fancy. If I was traveling with the family, I absolutely would not have stayed here. Fortunately it was just me and I wasn't expecting too much. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the hotel and accommodations were a little less than I hoped for. Again, it's good for a quick one night stay, but I would definitely not recommend it for families or for any longer than one night.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel if traveling with your family.

When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly front desk workers. Very nice and polite. Along with our room keys, we were given vouchers for breakfast as well as two drink tickets to be used at their on-site lounge. Our schedule was quite busy, so we did not have time to visit the lounge, but we did eat breakfast each morning. Breakfast was very nice...buffet style with eggs, sausage, potatoes, fruit, etc. and waitress service serving coffee and removing dirty plates and cleaning tables. It's an older hotel and could use some updating. We found the room to be comfortable. Lots of pillow. Both down and down-alternative for those with allergies. We slept well. We did walk to the large indoor pool and hot tub area but did not use it. It is certainly a large pool, and would have been nice if we had the time to use it.

This hotel was a the perfect stopping point for our 2 day roadtrip with family. Rooms were worn but pretty clean, beds were very firm. The pool area was nice, except the stain applied to the ceiling of the pool area was dripping down based on how humid it was inside which was odd. It was convienent to have the restaurant attached to the hotel, the food really wasn't good but at least it was expensive. Breakfast was average at best. The price for the room was very reasonable so even though there were some worn out aspects of the hotel, it's not a bad place to stop for the night.

I have stayed at this Clarion twice, as a Choice Hotels regular I know what I like in accomodations. While this place would be an attractive place to hold an event for a group of people, its not really convenient for an overnight stay. To check-in one must find a place to park in a very crowded, busy parking lot, people are outside the lobby area smoking, so on arrival you are greeted by bar patrons who have to go outside to smoke(Ohio law) and that may or may not be appealing to someone just stopping to relax and get some sleep after a long drive on the turnpike. This property is very large and has no elevator I could find. Directions given by the front desk staff sounded good but we got lost anyway the entry doors are very spread out and there were no luggage carts around,. .It was a Sat. night when we were stayed here and the people were here to party. So I would highly recommend this place if that is your intent, if not well.....Maybe this place should have a loud party section and a sleeping section? The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy, the flat screens were great and the shower was very good,The breakfast buffet was very good. The wi-fi was terrible. The staff was ok not overly friendly but professional enough. This place could be better and maybe it once was great, A few upgrades, new hall carpet, better wi-fi and finding another place for the smokers to smoke besides the main entrance to the lobby would be a good start.

This Clarion looked and felt a little rundown. Rooms were clean and quiet. The pool had quite an odor, the floor had standing pools of water, we had to beg to get the music turned down (we were the only ones in the pool), we had to hunt for towels, (lots of dirty ones that had not been removed). Breakfast was also a bit odd. The waitresses enjoyed talking to the truckers but mostly ignored the rest of us. One patron had to go on a hunt for a baby chair and bring it to the table himself. Hot water was set out but no teabags. Food was set out but that was the end of the care given to it.
I felt the entire place just needed some TLC. With proper care it could be quite nice.
