“Great, just Great,”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

We stayed here for our anniversary, 4th I think. It was fantastic, a complementary bottle of fizzy was in our room with yummy chocolate as well, how could this not be great. After a fantasic dinnerand wine, we retired to our room after enjoying the cocktail menu at the bar and playing snooker on the way up the stairs. We had a christening the next day and after wine and cocktails it didnt take much to have us fall asleep. The bathrrom was lovely but its a little disconcerting knowing its only a glass door. All in all we had a lovely time, no grass angels this time however. Too tird

Our family spent Christmas night here and loved it. We checked in at around 11am. My first thought upon entering the building was it had a calming relaxed feel. Reception was welcoming and very friendly.
Upon reading trip advisor we had decided to book Superior rooms and so glad we did, the other rooms were very small but the studio rooms-suites looked fantastic and if ever given the chance and the money would book that one in future. (Expensive) I felt the rooms could do with a freshen up and can see why people would be put off by the paint just very plain, but having said that we were not put off in any way by anything in the rooms at all. Felt cozy and warm to us. Beds were one of the best beds we have slept in so comfy, After unwinding in our rooms for a bit we went down to a gorgeous Christmas lunch in Josephs. I found the food fine dining and devoured every last bit of it. Many thanks to our wait person Sarah, she was perfect for the day and for our table. Great for my daughter to talk to as she was doing her work. I would just like to make a special mention to the manager. We had a death in our family just a few weeks prior to our lunch, they handled the situation professionally and with care. Thank you. After lunch we went for a swim, loved the pool and the area. Great. Went down to the bar for dinner and ate more of the yummy food on offer. Looked around the mansion, the lovely old room with the fire, the snooker room and out on the baloneys around the place. Lots of quite little places to sit and talk. We all slept really well that night. Next morning up for breaky and again were not disappointed by the quality of the food and drinks on offer. The gardens are amazing, again lots of places to sit around outside. We really loved the mansion and hope to be back again.

Room Tip: If you can afford it get the studio suites over the pool area.

Tired and needing upgrade. Rooms knicked about in places. Bed linen unusual. Expected more from website, price and star rating. Gardens lovely but green houses largely looked unattended. NYE dinner was disappointing. We had good seats but had been told earlier we could not be guaranteed where we would sit even though we were in house guests. They were overbooked evidently. We could not have the wine we chose and the only similarly priced wine was not enjoyable even though it was $96. By 8pm they had run out of green beans given the large function had reserved them. No alternative was offered and that left us with fries, potatoe mash or lettuce. Not impressed. There was a techno music festival booked on NY day which impacted our enjoyment of the gardens the next day. We had never been advised prior. Would not return.

Having lived in Europe for 7 years sitting in the gardens and taking in a tour of the old Mansion made us “home sick”. We stayed in a Heritage room which is the original rooms the Catholic Priest lived in, so they are quite small, no bath. If you can afford it upgrade to the next size room, I feel the Hotel is looking a bit tired with the dark brown painted walls and thread bare carpet. No DVD player in the room which is an oversight and the Hotel movies are $15.00 each which is not worth paying for as the TV is so small and poor quality. We did not have dinner in the Restaurant as we did not want to leave our room. However bought cold meats and fresh bread (cold cuts & antipasti, e.g smoked ham etc) from Bruno's Deli at 125 Watton St Werribee and had a gourmet picnic in our room. Highly recommended! The property is quiet at night, and the breakfast is ok as far as an all you can eat hotel standard can be… we use the gym, spa and steam room. Pool was very cold in the morning and the gym is small, three people struggle to move around in it. My wife went to the Day Spa and had a facial, she rated it as one of the better ones she has had. Watch out for the Weddings!

Prices are inflated considering how tired the rooms are. Window coverings are awful, let in a lot of morning like and the overall hygiene is well below standard. The only highlight is that the staff were lovely to deal with. Wouldn't rush back!

My wife and I wanted a night away for our wedding anniversary. The Werribee mansion Hotel and Spa was a great choice. The staff were friendly and helpful on arrival, the heritage listed room was a bit small but we had a comfortable bed and generous bathroom. The let down was the wash basin in the bathroom was tiny and no shelves for our toiletries! There is plenty to do with the huge gardens and the Mansion itself to wander through with plenty of history to read up on! We had a great sleep and we weren't bothered by the guests attending a wedding that night! We had dinner at Joseph's restaurant. (needs its own review) We also enjoyed the breakfast the next morning before enjoying a spa treatment to top off a great night away!

Room Tip: Get on the 3rd (top) floor!

We recently spent a night at this hotel, and while our stay was comfortable and enjoyable the hotel is looking rather tired and could do with some upgrading - worn stained carpets, chipped furniture in rooms, different color 'touch-up' paints, large cobwebs on the outside of the windows. Unfortunately the hotel just didn't have that luxury feel we were expecting from the website and for the price we paid. On the upside the staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable and the pool area is very nice. The grounds and actual mansion are beautiful to wander and explore.
