A great day out for young and old. You can get very close to the animals in the open jeep. A great place to have a picnic.

“Wonderful outdoor entertainment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Wonderful place to visit, you get really close in the train, great to see giraffes just walking like in the plainsof Africa, there were rhinos, hippos, zebras, lions, gorillas, ostriches chasing the train, meerkats, absolutely wonderful place. Kids under 15 are free on weekends too. Great stroller park while on train, fantastic commentary as well.

“Good, Clean & fun for all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

We were invited to a "do it yourself" birthday party for my Godson's 5th birthday. Lucky for us it was a weekday and we were able to locate an empty African Hut. These little huts are a great size and are FREE! (always nice to hear when you are out and about) What a great way to celebrate a birthday when you bring your own drinks, lollies and cake. The café was predictably expensive. The zoo is much bigger than the Melbourne Zoo in size, but not as many animals. The big difference is the Safari Busses. There are options to do private tours, behind the scenes ect ect... but there is nothing wrong with the free bus service as it goes around the park and takes around 40 mins to see the zebra's, giraffes, hipos, emus, ostriches and other various African/Asian animals. The park was clean; no rubbish around and the kids big (16 years old) and little (3 years old) had a wonderful day: as too the other party going kids.

“Small but great jeep safari”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

We allowed the whole day to spend here but only spent a few hours! The open jeep safari is brilliant and is a must! We got really close to all of the animals and I now have some fantastic photographs! There are lots of places to stop and have a picnic which is lovely. There are not loads of animals after the safari but is worth a visit.

“Enjoyable and Accessible”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

We spent a very enjoyable afternoon at this open-air zoo with a family staying with us from Canberra. With a broken ankle that confines me to a wheelchair, we were looking for an accessible activity and Werribee proved an excellent choice.

We arrived at about midday and stayed until about 4:00. We started with the 12:20 open air safari. The tour bus had a lift for my wheelchair and the guide was informative and funny. There were also ramps and graded hills that made it easy to get around. It was wonderful seeing the animals out in the open -- gorillas, a cheetah right up close, meerkats on sentry duty. We have a membership to all the zoos, but the entry for kids was free anyway. It would be nice if the cafe lifted its game -- the coffee was rubbish -- but you don't go to the zoo for the food.
