“Great food but a trifle slow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

the service was slow, but friendly and apologetic.
The food was first class and I would thoroughly recommend as probably the best to be had in Strahan.. Wine list good value and view from restaurant fantastic.

“Risby Cove”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

The food was nice but not anything special, but it was quite expensive. The little free taster you got when you first sat down was nice. Staff were quite friendly, but waitress overcharged us by $20, and when we pointed it out to her she amended it. Maybe they should use a calculator instead of adding it up in their head.

“Disappointing food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

Slow service although we were warned that this would be the case when we sat down!
The 2 different fish dishes we had were both disappointing, 1 was overlooked and dry and the sauce was so fiery that it overwhelmed the fish completely. The second ocean trout was nice fish but with a weird salad that smothered the fish and hard potatoes that were not cooked.
As we had been recommended to this as the best restaurant in town we were very disappointed. Our meat at View 42 the night before was much superior.

“Great Setting Average Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

This restaurant is in a great setting looking out over Strahan Harbour. However the night we went it was bitterly cold outside & the same inside. Heating needs to be turned up on these bitterly cold Strahan evenings. The service was fine and wine prices reasonable but food was just average. The meals are too complicated with the chef trying to be "to fancy". Too many flavours and the food loses its taste with a mixture of ingredients that don't work. Sometimes simple is safer.

“Tassies finest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

Discovered this little jewel unfortunately on our last day in Strahan. Its hidden in a little bay just out of the town centre. The staff were friendly and very attentive, we were given a little taster while perusing quite an extensive menu. I had the duck which was cooked to perfection and drizzled with a Asian spice dressing that had you licking your lips after every mouthful. My partner had the trout and that was cooked with the skin on retaining the full moist flavour of this local fish. We finished with a orange and Cointreau cheesecake that completed a beautifully rounded meal. While a casual atmosphere, the linen tablecloths, magnificent views, and complimentary chocolates at the end of meal has set a bar that many city restaurants would find hard to follow. Well done Risby Cove,
