“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2014 via mobile

My partner and I ate here whilst on holidays from nsw , the whole dinning experience was perfect .From the waitstaff , the owner greeting us at the table and the food . We had scallops wrapped in bacon and prawn cocktail ( not your usual prawn cocktail ) for entree , mains lamb rack and the 600 gm rib eye ( not for the faint hearted ) all cooked to perfection and all local produce . Prices for food and drinks probably cheaper than your average pub lounge meal , we wish this place was in our home town and we will certainly visit when back in Tassie , Stanley is a beautiful place and Xander's is the icing on the cake .

“Superb Dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

We needed to book here as it’s so popular, the wait for well worth it. My husband was very keen to have the crayfish entrée however they ran out and suggested he have the same dish with prawns, he enjoyed it. For mains I had the rib eye with pepper sauce on the side and my husband had the 60 day dry aged scotch fillet, with vegies. It was a shame we were so full the deserts looked fantastic. The food is presented beautifully the staff are friendly and the maître d does a great job of circulating and chatting with the guests. Great wine list, this brasserie is up there with some of the best restaurants in Sydney.

“Wonderful food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014

We had an excellent meal at Xanders. The food was of high quality, imaginative and beautifully prepared. We loved the innovative on the menu, and everything a little 'different' that we tried worked beautifully. For those of us who like more standard fare, the meat and fish dishes were excellent. Bravo, Xanders. It's worth a trip to Stanley just to eat there.

“I really wish they opened every day, it was so good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

The only sad part about this restaurant is that we would have gone back again if we had been able to eat there earlier in our stay at Stanley. Unfortunately the restaurant isn't open every day so make sure to plan your trip to ensure you get to eat here - it really was that good.

The food, the service, the atmosphere were all excellent. I understand the restaurant provides a training opportunity to young chefs and they are obviously well trained because the food was excellent. This is also a place that has a huge desert menu so if you are a desert lover like me, that alone makes it superb.

However the size of the meals is extraordinary. I had pork belly as an entrée and it could have just as easily been a main course. It was delicious and great value.

I then had beef ribs for the main course and they are a real experience - juicy, saucy and divine.

The restaurant is really a surprise for a small town and well worth a trip. Highly recommended.
