“Self contained and great views!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2012

Double storey units with bedrooms downstairs (so no luggin cases upstairs), and lovely lounge/kitchen/dining room upstairs. Comfortable holiday unit at reasonable rates. Everything you need for a long or short stay. All cooking facilities, laundry etc. Great bargain. Would certainly stay again.

We stayed here in November. We did not have a booking and from the outside appearance of this very 70s looking motel we weren't terrribly enthusiastic. The owner(?)Manager(?) was laid back to the point of grumpiness. He said he did not have a single apt but offered us a double for $140 - outside our budget and unnessary - he grudgingly came down to $100. A single is $85. As I was checking in he mentioned that business was still slow as the season hasn't started. However, all that aside it wasn't a bad place to stay just a bit drab and depressing - only saved by the view from the upstairs living area over St George's Bay. It was clean and contained all the necessary equipment - except don't expect to read in bed. The lighting in the bedroom is ... energy saving in the extreme. The area outside is concrete and more concrete. Would I go back? Only if I had no choice mainly because it was so drab and old fashioned that i found a dreary place to stay in.

Room Tip: If you have mobility problems be aware that the living area, at least in the double unit, is upstair...

Bit out of the way and dated, but for the price, it was nice place to stay - mostly because of the view. Good balcony out the front to sit on for sunrise.

But as for the staff (owners/live-in property managers) not very pleasant to deal with. Most unhelpful, rude, and not an ounce of customer service or understanding.

We were literally kicked out of the room right on checkout time after several prods to get out early, and my wife was in the middle of breast feeding our 6 weeks old baby. We were all packed and the room clean when we ask for a few more minutes, but in no uncertain terms told to GET OUT! My wife as a consequence was left having to breast feed out baby in the car.

Bedrooms and bathroom with separate toilet downstairs, staircase to the upper level which contained kitchen, open-living room, balcony and another toilet. Well-equipped kitchen, good-enough bathroom, large bedrooms. Pleasant enough stay, nice managers. Clean. What we expected for the price. St Helens is a lovely town, Binalong Bay and the Bay of Fires is worth a visit. We'd stay here again.

10 Min drive along foreshore of St Helens. Great self contained accommodation. Comfy sofa for watching Austar. Note website says there is a spa for communal use but this is closed. Good value for money, friendly staff.

These villas were recommended to me by other Tasmanian travellers but my friend and I had already booked a night here on our way to Launceston. Two bedrooms, shower and toilet were on the bottom floor with high, steep flight of internal steps to the lounge, kitchen and another toilet on top floor. This accommodation would not be suitable to people with young children or the elderly because of the steep staircase. We found the villa to be clean and comfortable and close to the lovely Latris restaurant on the waterfront.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2010

We had a one bedroom unit, with breakfast components supplied in the room, in a pleasant area about half an hour walk from the harbour, along the shoreline.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the bay. There was a range of TV channels using Austar. Cabled internet in office.

When we checked out and I mentioned that the hairdryer wasn't working, the owner took great delight in telling me that it was a temperamental problem with a small holding clip, which I should have adjusted - a most unhelpful approach.
